Simple Translation

Oh, one who is mercifully sitting in SrI vaikuNtam, amidst nithyasUris who are together with you all the time! Oh, one who residing forever in the minds of devotees! Oh, one who is the beloved of periya pirAttiyAr, who was born on a sacred lotus! Oh, one who mercifully reclined on a tender banyan leaf, after keeping all the worlds safely in your divine stomach, such that they are not destroyed during deluge! You should come and don the kurumugaip pU such that I feel joyous, looking at you,

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

aNdaththu … – periya thirumozhi 10.2.10 “iRandhAl thangum Ur aNdamE” (after death, the place where all entities reach and stay permanently, is paramapadham). periya thirumozhi 8.10.10 says “aNdam pOy Atchi avarkku” ([after getting liberated from samsAram], they will reach paramapadham and rule all the worlds from there). Thus, the term aNdam would refer to SrI vaikuNtam here.

aNdaththuL aththANi amarargaL sUzha angu irundhAy – Oh, one who is sitting in SrI vaikuNtam ruling over all the seven worlds with your sceptre, surrounded by nithyasUris, who remain in close proximity with you, worshipping you. aththANi – being in close proximity.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that just as it has been mentioned in thiruppallANdu 12paramAthmanaich chUzhndhu irundhu Eththuvar pallANdE” (they will surround emperumAn and recite mangaLASAsanam for him), aNdaththu aththANiyuLLE amarargaL sUzha irundhAy – in thripAdhvibhUthi (SrI vaikuNtam, which is three times larger than samsAram), you were sitting, being praised by nithyasUris, who are always close to you.

thoNdargaL nenjil uRaivAy – Oh, one who resides permanently in the minds of your followers, who live in samsAram, with a higher level of happiness than manifested in paramapadham, and who desire to attain paramapadham!

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: Oh, one, who is residing forever in the minds of followers, who are residing in divine abodes of emperumAn, such that they could carry out mangaLASAsanam!

thUmlarAL maNavALA – Oh, one who is the beloved of periya pirAttiyAr, who was born on a pure lotus flower! emperumAn resides with periya pirAttiyAr, whether it is in SrI vaikuNtam, just as it has been mentioned in Siva purANam “vaikuNtEthu parElOkE SriyA sArdham” (emperumAn resides in the most eminent abode of SrI vaikuNtam with SrI mahAlakshmi) or it is in the minds of his followers, just as it has been mentioned in periyAzhwAr thirumozhi 5.2.10 “aravindhap pAvaiyum thAnum agam padi vandhu pugundhu ” (entering and staying in the mind, along with periya pirAttiyAr who resides on a lotus flower).

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: Oh, one who is the unique lord of periya pirAttiyAr, which is the reason for residing in the minds of followers!

uNdu … – Oh, one who mercifully lay down on a tender banyan leaf, after keeping all the worlds safely in your divine stomach, such that they are not destroyed during deluge! The reason for exhibiting this protective quality is the SrIya:pathithvam [being the consort of SrI mahAlakshmi) mentioned earlier. Just as it has been mentioned in SrI sthavam 1 “yasyA vIkshya mukham thadhingitha parAdhInO vidhaththE’khilam ” (emperumAn executes all the tasks by taking hints from the divine face of periya pirAttiyAr), everything is carried out, taking the cue from her.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: Oh, one who is mercifully reclining on a tender banyan leaf, which has still not blossomed fully, after keeping all those, who did not get into the purushakAram [recommendatory role] of periya pirAttiyAr, safely in your divine stomach during deluge.

kaNdu … – You should come and don your favourite flower of karumugaippU [malabAr jasmine] such that I become joyous, looking at your divine locks and the garland.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that AzhwAr tells krishNa that he should come such that AzhwAr could carry out mangaLASAsanam for him and become joyous, bedecking him with karumugaip pU.

We shall next consider the last pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
