Simple translation
Oh, those who are desirous to have a change of deceit in heart and surrender unto sarvESvaran’s divine feet! sarvESVaran who is jalaSAyi (one who reclines on water), is eternally residing in a reclining posture in this dhivyadhESam having the divine name siRupuliyUr where shining, precious gems are pushed out by the flood on the shores of the ocean, the spreading of which is caused by the waves which are present in the ocean, and [is also residing] my heart.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kaLLam manam viLLum vagai – As said in SrI rAmAyaNam ayOdhyA kANdam 109.34 “yathAhi chOras sathathAhi budhdha:” (Just as a thief should be driven out, one who rejects vEdham should also be driven out), those who deny the meanings of vEdham are thieves; further, there are some who steal the self (AthmA) which is bhagavAn’s possession. Having the heart which deceives in this manner, desiring to have a change of state, oh, those who are eager to surrender unto his divine feet!
veLLam mudhu paravaith thirai viriya – As the waves of the ancient ocean spread everywhere on its shores.
theLLum maNi thigazhum – As the ocean breached the shores naturally, the precious gems are shining there.
siRupuliyUrch chalasayanaththuLLum enadhuLLaththuLLum uRaivArai uLLIrE – bhagavAn has equal love towards ugandharuLina nilangaL (dhivyadhESams which are dear to him) and AzhwAr’s heart. Because of this, for those who desire to approach, both these places are desirable. “salasayanan” means jalaSayana, which is his divine name. Because this town is inhabited by jalaSayana, the abode came to be known as salasayanam.
