Simple translation

To have hiraNyAsura, the enemy who did not align with him, killed and reach vIra svargam, bhagavAn assumed the narasimha form in the cruel battle, held the stout hiraNya’s chest with his nails and tore it down. Oh, one who is having saulabhyam (easy approachability) in holding the huge mountain gOvardhana as an umbrella to help the cows survive, in krishNAvathAram! Oh, one who is greater than everyone else! Oh, one who can turn his devotees to be pure! Oh, one who is the lord of the universe! Oh, lord who is mercifully residing in the western side of thiruvazhundhUr! I have known kali yugam’s nature. I have determined the acts which are for my well-being. (That is) I don’t know of any refuge other that your divine feet.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

viNdAn … – To make hiraNyAsura climb and reach vIra svargam.

vem samaththu … – In the cruel battle, he assumed narasimha form, went and held the chest of hiraNya, who had body which is stout due to ahankAram and mamakAram, and tore it down to two pieces.

paNdu An uyya … – With this, it is explained that in narasimhAvathAram, he helped prahlAdha who can recognise bhagavAn’s help; but the cows and cowherd people won’t even have gratitude and yet krishNa helped. Oh, one who lifted up a mountain which was in your hands’ reach to protect cows and cowherd people.

paranE – Oh, matchless one in protecting your people!

paviththiranE – Oh, one who is having the purity to purify the impure persons!

kaNdEn nAn kaliyugaththadhan thanmai – I have clearly seen the nature of this kali yugam. I have clearly known the nature of this samsAram which causes vaimukhyam (facing away) from you and causes attachment towards worldly matters.

karumamAvadhum enRanakku aRindhEn – I have known that surrendering unto your divine feet is good for me.

aNdA – Oh, the controller of the universe! Alternative explanation – Oh, the controller of cowherd people!

azhundhUr … – Haven’t you arrived here and stood, to protect the people of the future just like you helped SrI prahlAdha, cowherd people and cows?
