Simple Translation

yaSOdhAp pirAtti, who has the gait of swan and who has simplicity, had said with happiness “Oh, one who incarnated as swan, as fish, as narasimha, as vAmana and as tortoise! Oh, one who is the lord of herd-folk! Oh, one who removed my distress! You should mercifully perform sengIrai. Oh, one who is the lord of seven worlds! You should dance; you should dance”. bhattar pirAn, who has abundant fame and who incarnated in SrI villibuththUr, had mercifully composed that yaSOdhAp pirAtti’s words as garlands of thamizh, with sweet tunes. Those who are capable of reciting these ten pAsurams, will attain fame in the eight directions and experience emperumAn, even as they live in this samsAram.

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

annamum … – Oh, one who incarnated as hamsa [swan], which instructed vEdham, as mathsya, [fish] which was the support during deluge, as narasimha [lion head with human body], who destroyed the monster hiraNya kashyap, as vAmana [dwarf] who fulfilled the desire of indhran [head of celestial entities] and as kUrma [tortoise] which was the support for manthara mountain [when the milky ocean was churned]! Through all these, it is explained that emperumAn transforms himself from his most distinguished, auspicious divine form, for the sake of his followers, to lowly forms and protects his followers in line with the activities of the species in which he has incarnated.

AyargaL nAyaganE – Unlike those incarnations [where he protected a few entities], incarnating to reduce the excess load on earth, one who became the head of herd-folk!

en avalam kaLaivAy – oh, one who removed my distress of “What will befall you?” in all manner, by protecting yourself!

Aduga sengIrai – You should mercifully perform sengIrai.

Ezhulagum … – Oh, who is the lord of all the worlds! You should dance; you should dance. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the term adhu [inbam adhu] indicates that those who learn these pAsurams will get to carry out mangaLASAsanam for emperumAn in SrI vaikuNtam.

annam … – the manner in which yaSOdhAp pirAtti, who has the beauty of swan’s gait and obedience, had told.

Ana … – born as a brAhmaNa, AzhwAr took over the pathos of herd-folk, enjoyed the experience of yaSOdhAp pirAtti in her time, at a much later point of time, with a fame which was more abundant than hers. Those who are able to learn these pAsurams which were mercifully composed by periyAzhwAr, who was the controller of SrI villibuththUr, in thamizh language, with sweet tunes…

ulagil … – even as they live in this world, they will attain fame transcending the eight directions and will attain the eminent comfort of bhagavath anubhavam [experiencing emperumAn] in a vibhUthi where even nithyasUris cannot enjoy [viz. in samsAram].

We shall next consider the pravESam of the next thirumozhi.
