Oh one who scattered the ten heads of rAvaNa, the lord of lankA on the southern side, with your arrows! Oh one who is like the pupil of my eye, who has mercifully taken residence in thirukkaNNapuram, which is surrounded by huge compound walls, which are indestructible, beautiful and made with pure gold! Oh one who is like the sweet ambrosia for me! Oh SrI rAma! [My] lullaby to you [for you to sleep well]

vyAkyAnam

mannu pugazh kausalai than maNi vayiRu vAyththavanE – kausalai had the firm greatness of having emperumAn, who is the controller of all the worlds, as her son. Oh one who was born in the beautiful stomach of such kausalai!

then ilangaikkOn mudigaL sindhuviththAy – Oh one who scattered the ten heads of rAvaNa, who was the lord of lankA, with arrows! Since the main purpose of incarnating as SrI rAma was to annihilate rAvaNa, AzhwAr mentions destruction of rAvaNa soon after mentioning SrI rAma’s incarnation.

sem pon sEr kanni nan mAmadhiL pudai sUzh kaNapuraththu en karu maNiyE – being made of most eminent gold, being indestructible, being beautiful, the huge compound walls surround thirukkaNNapuram, the dhivyadhESam where SrI rAma has taken residence mercifully. Oh one who is the pupil of my eye and who conducts me! kanni refers to the quality of being indestructible.

ennudaiya innamudhE – Oh one who is like ambrosia for my eyes and subsistence, instead of the nectar for celestial entities which was just the essence of salty water!

irAgavanE thAlElO – AzhwAr says that rAghavan [SrI rAma], who incarnated in the great clan of raghu, is his ambrosia, unlike the nectar of celestial entities which was without any essence.
