Simple translation
Reddish-eyed sarvESvaran, my lord, is mercifully residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruththeRRi ambalam in thirunAngUr. This abode is where the muddy flood which is reddish from the beautiful, slushy vermillion which is spread on the bosoms of the ladies whose hair is decorated with flowers which spread the fragrance, is slowly spreading over the whitish sand dunes; such sarvESvaran is the young boy in the beautiful vAmana form, who is having the yagyOpavItham which is having shining, well-grown radiance and multiple strings, and krishNAjinam, hanging on him, entered the fire sacrifice which is conducted by mahAbali who is having a birth which does not align with emperumAn, and which is having apt chants of vEdham, and begged for the earth which he was not owning.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
pongu ilangu … – Having very shining yagyOpavItham and krishNAjinam hanging.
pollAdha kuRaL uruvAy – AzhwAr is using the method of viparItha lakshaNA (saying the opposite way) since if he said “azhagidhu” (beautiful), it will cause evil eyes of the worldly people; alternatively – he is indicating that due to his strange (dwarf) form, one cannot take their eyes off him.
porundhA vANan – Not just having lowly heart as said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 7.15 “Asuram bhAvam ASrithA:” (those with demoniacal nature), but having a lowly demoniac birth.
mangalm sEr – The yAgam to sarvESvaran himself went – such auspiciousness.
maN agalam – mahAbali being the owner, and emperumAn, lacking it, begged for it.
maindhan kaNdIr – What childishness!
kongu alarndha … – thirunAngUr where the muddy flood which is reddish from the beautiful, slushy vermillion which is spread on the bosoms of the ladies whose hair is decorated with flowers which spread the fragrance, is slowly spreading over the whitish sand dunes [in kAviri]; just as thArA was walking in a staggered way as said in SrI rAmAyaNam kishkinthA kANdam 33.37 “sA praskalanthI…” (the famous thArA arrived with a staggered walk).
