Simple translation
Reddish-eyed sarvESvaran, my lord, is mercifully residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruththeRRi ambalam in thirunAngUr. This is the abode where the ladies who are having tender vision like that of a deer and reddish lips, keep a parrot which is green like emerald and childishness, and teach honey like sweet speech to such parrot; such sarvESvaran is the unique one who at once severed the mountain like twenty shoulders of rAvaNan who remained fearless looking at the simplicity of SrI rAma thinking “Here is chakravarthith thirumagan who has risen as a king and has come fighting” and who considered himself to be the king of the demons.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
thAn pOlum … – AppAn thiruvazhundhUr araiyar and other elders went and requested clarification for this pAsuram asking “What is the mood of this pAsuram?” [Since there is the word “thAn pOlum” (as himself), it appears demeaning to SrI rAma’s stature, where he is already the emperor and rAvaNan is said as “kOn pOlum” (as the king). The SrIvaishNavas’ question relates to how AzhwAr would form such a sentence] bhattar heard the pAsuram once and mercifully said “These are rAvaNan’s words” [That is – AzhwAr quoting rAvaNan where rAvaNan is thinking cheaply about SrI rAma and considering himself to be great].
thAn pOlum … – The enemy (SrI rAma) came to fight as a king would do.
adhu kaNdu … – The unique, valorous SrI rAma, who severed the mountain-like twenty shoulders of rAvaNan who considered himself to be the king of demons, arose and came fighting.
mAn pOlum … – It appears that one parrot [the lady] is teaching another parrot. It is to be understood that the speech of the parrot [lady] who is teaching is sweeter than the parrot which is learning. Ladies who are having deer like tender vision and reddish lips, having the obedient parrot which is resembling emerald, are teaching honey like sweet and tender speech. Such thirunAngUr.
