hE hasthigirinAtha! SrIpathi! aravindhAksha! I prostrate before Thee. You wipe out the distress of those who worship You. You are achyuta, firm in holding on to the devout. I remain surrendered unto You.

You are able to protect all beings, full of compassion, the sole protector of the world. May your graceful vision blossom on me also.

In these 5 stanzas he explains his position by a simile and begs dhEvarAja for his protection. This life is a desert. In that desert, diseases are terrible tigers. There, petty pleasures are like small bushes. Desires are the trees. Wife, kids, house, land, properties, etc., are like mirage. In this desert I wander like a mad man without knowing what to do and not to do, doing what is not to be done and not doing what is to be done, weak in body, emaciated, mentally feeble, incapable of anything, without devotion unto You, hE dhEvarAja! ocean of compassion! God of Gods! save me by the sheer cool breeze of your compassion falling like dribbles of water from the waves of your abundant grace through your comforting Looks. I crave for your compassionate Graceful look on me.
