Simple Translation
Swarms of beetles, which sing with the tune of a vINA, enter the blossoming petals of screw-pine flowers, rubbing their physical forms against the pollen grains in the flowers, thus getting a coating of white powder on themselves. SrIrangam is the abode where they hum, as an outlet for that joy. It is also the divine abode, where emperumAn, who released his divine disc to annihilate the monsters such that they get uprooted right till their wombs, ensuring that they do not reappear, dwells.
vyAkhyAnam
kIzh ulagil asurargaLai – monsters, who reside in the nether world. Just as snakes live in anthills, though they are present everywhere, these monsters, though present everywhere, live specifically in the nether world. They come out of this nether world, engage in battles with celestial entities. During those times when they fight with celestial entities, emperumAn stands with the celestial entities and destroys them. Since this occurs often, despite annihilating them…
kizhangirundhu kiLarAmE – to ensure that they do not reappear like this often
Azhi viduththu avarudaiya karu azhiththa azhippan Ur – releasing the divine disc, which goes to the place thought of by emperumAn, destroys the enemies and returns to emperumAn’s divine hands, such that they do not reappear. Here, it goes until the wombs, in order to destroy the monsters. emperumAn has such a divine nature.
Ur – subsequently, emperumAn mercifully resides in this place [SrIrangam] to remove enemies who are like the monsters.
thAzhai madal Udu urinji – entering the petals of screw-pine flowers, due to their desire in its fragrance, rubbing their physical forms against the flowers
thavaLa vaNNap podi aNindhu – applying the whitish coloured pollen grains, present inside those flowers, all over their physical form
yAzhin isai vaNdinangaL ALam vaikkum – SrIrangam is the divine abode, where the beetles, as an outlet for that joy [of applying pollen grains on their physical forms] will sing with the sweet tunes of the stringed instrument, vINA, humming the sounds “thena thena”.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says the following at the end: SrIvaishNavas are like the screw-pine flowers, standing afar, but emitting a fragrance, through their nature of nobility. prapannas [those, who have surrendered to emperumAn; here, this term refers to the beetles] bear the divine grains of sand from under the divine feet of such SrIvaishNavas [this refers to the whitish pollen grains, seen inside the screw-pine flowers] and live with joy [this refers to the joyous humming sung by the beetles, similar to the sound from the musical instrument, vINA].
We shall next consider the 7th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
