Simple translation

Just as a calf will remember its mother cow, bhagavAn, the natural relative, who is the benefactor, made me who got his favours, meditate upon him, and he who is omniscient thought about me who is ignorant and is showering his mercy; he is having the divine mouth which consumed the world during the deluge and let it out subsequently; he is having the divine ears which are decorated with divine makara kuNdalam; he is eternally youthful; amidst mudhalAzhwArs, he remained in the divine verandah in thirukkOvalUr which is having forts; he remains amidst nithyasUris as a lion and a prideful bull; I will not show my love towards anyone other than such bhagavAn who has love towards me.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

thAy … – Just as a calf which remembers its mother, he made me think about him only. The calf thinks about the mother cow not for any other purpose but due to the gratitude of past nursing only; he made me also think about him due to gratitude towards him.

thAn enakkAy ninaindhu – bhagavAn thought “Even after doing everything there will be some shortcoming. Hence, why should we place such difficult requirement in him?” and as said in varAha charama SlOkam “aham smarAmi” (I will think about such bhaktha), and thought about me to eliminate the shortcoming in me of not thinking about him.

aruL seyyum appanai – Though there is no reason in me, he is the natural relative who showered his mercy fully to me.

anRu ivvaiygam uNdu umzhindhitta vAyanai – When the world became caught in the deluge of water, bhagavAn has the nature to equally help everyone. One who is having the divine lips which protected us by placing in his stomach and letting us out subsequently.

magarak kuzhai nAdhanai … – One who is having such beauty that even in praLayam one will not fail to notice it.

maindhanai – one who is having eternal youthfulness.

madhiL kOval idai kazhi Ayanai – One who entered amidst his dear devotees and jostled with them.

amararrku ari ERRai – One who is having this aspect of entering the group of his beloved ones and jostling them, as his nature. Being complete in this manner, one who showed love towards me.

anRi AdhariyEnE – As he is showering his love upon me, will I support anyone else than him?
