Simple translation
bhagavAn created his divine form by his own desire, and is having a divine svarUpam and is having the three worlds with great radiance, under his control; he is the controller of paramapadham; with his vow, he created the thrimUrthi – brahmA, vishNu and rudhra, from his svarUpam. Oh those who seek to be uplifted, considering such bhagavAn who became krishNa, to be the upAyam (means)! Reach the dhivyadhESam named thirunaRaiyUr where the chOzha king, named sembiyan, who is having reddish eyes, is residing and who once launched the weapon, spear, to facilitate vIra svargam for the one named viLaindha vEL who was holding the radiant spear, thus protecting the worlds and who is the king of southern regions as well as the king of the kongu region which is in the western side.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
thannAlE thannuruvam … – As said in “ananyAdhipathi” (not having any other controller), since bhagavAn has his svarUpam etc under his control, he is different from everyone else. One is said to be ISvaran only when one’s svarUpam etc are under his disposal.
thayangu oLi … – Having the leelA vibhUthi at his disposal; the worlds are classified into three categories – kruthaka, akruthaka and kruthakAkruthaka, Here the radiance is an adjective for the worlds which are moving with splendour, since they are owned by bhagavAn. Alternatively, radiance can be seen as an adjective for bhagavAn’s divine form, as in thayangoLi sEr mUrththi.
Note: kruthaka [The bottom seven layers of the universe – athala to pAthAla and the three middle layers – bhUr lOka, bhuva lOka and svarga lOka; these are completely destroyed as part of avAnthara praLayam (intermediary deluge at the end of brahmA’s day) and subsequently recreated], akruthaka [The top three layers of the universe – sathya lOka, thapa lOka and jana lOka; these remain in tact during avAnthara praLayam with their residents] and kruthakAkruthaka [mahar lOka; this remains intact during avAnthara praLayam, but the residents shift to higher layers at that time].
thannAlE … – Having three forms matching the creation etc of the leelA vibhUthi (material realm). Being himself as vishNu, he protects and being the antharyAmi of brahmA and rudhra, he conducts creation and annihilation. In this manner, he is having three forms for three purposes.
thAnAya … – Such bhagavAn, in this leelA vibhUthi, incarnated as krishNa, to be proudly claimed by a few from among those who exist in his world, saying “He is my son”. Oh those who have such krishNa as our refuge! Oh those who try to hold on to the divine feet of the one who said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 18.66 “mAmEkam” (Only me)!
min Adu … – To send the evil person named viLaindha vEL, who is holding a shining spear in his hand, to vIra svargam, sembiyan, the chOzha king, launched his spear, just once. In this manner, he conducted the whole world under his control. Such king went and attained thirunaRaiyUr.
thennAdan … – The chOzha who is the ruler of pANdiya kingdom in the south and kongu kingdom in the west, is residing here. Since the king acquired these greatness by taking refuge of this town, AzhwAr feels the reign of this king over three different kingdoms is as enjoyable as sarvESvaran having the whole universe as his form.
