Hence, AzhwAr says that he desires to be the firm pathway leading up to thirumalai on which the wise people would traverse to worship thiruvEngadamudaiyAn and get a connection with their divine feet. piRaiyERu sadaiyAnum piramanum indhiranum muRaiyAya peruvELvik kuRai mudippAn maRaiyAnAn veRiyAr thaN sOlaith thiruvEngadam malai mEl neRiyAyk kidakkum nilai udaiyEn AvEnE Word-by-Word Meanings piRai ERu sadaiyAnum– Sivan, who has donned the crescent on his matted hair piramanum – and brahmA indhiranum – with dhEvEndhra [lord of celestial entities] too muRaiyAya – appropriate to their capabilities peru vELvi – as the benefit of huge rituals kuRai mudippAn – one who fulfils the desires (of each of them) maRai AnAn – emperumAn, who is explained by the vEdhas (spiritual texts) veRi Ar thaN sOlai – having cool gardens which are fragrant thiruvEngadam malai mEl – on top of thiruvEngadam hill nEri Ayk kidakkum – being the pathway (on which the divine dust from the feet of SrIvaishNavas will drop down) nilai udaiyEn AvEnE – let me have the determination Simple Translation emperumAn, who is explained by the vEdhas alone, fulfils the desires of Sivan, who has crescent of the moon on his matted hair, brahmA and indhran, in line with the huge rituals [sacrifices] made by each of them. I would like to be the pathway leading up to the top of thiruvEngadam hill, which has cool and fragrant gardens, on which the wise people will walk, to reach the hill and I will have the fortune of having contact with the divine dust from their feet, vyAkyAnam piRai ERu sadaiyAnum – Sivan displays through his matted hair that he is carrying out certain activities in order to reach emperumAn. At the same time, by donning the crescent on his matted hair, he also displays his penchant for worldly pursuits. piramanum – brahmA, who is Sivan’s father indhiranum – and indhran, who is next to brahmA and Sivan in terms of their wealth muRaiyAya peru vELvik kuRai mudippAn – appropriate to each of their positions, for the rituals which they carry out, emperumAn gives them benefits such as position etc maRai AnAn – vEdhas say uproariously that it is emperumAn who is apt to be attained by brahmA et al in order to get their positions veRiyAr thaN sOlaith thiruvEngadam malai mEl neRiyAyk kidakkum nilai udaiyEn AvEnE – river in the jungle, which he had desired to be in the previous pAsuram, can flow during heavy rains and be of benefit to those who climb the hill, which has gardens having flowers with abundance of honey. However, during dry season, it can become dry and not be of any use to the followers of emperumAn. Unlike the river, should he come the pathway through which SrI vaishNavas would always climb up or climb down the hill, he will have continuous contact with the dust from their divine feet. He expresses his determination to be the pathway.
