periya thirumozhi >> Seventh centum

<< Previous decad

In the previous thirumozhi (decad), AzhwAr set out to instruct others that there is none other than bhagavAn who is worthy to be our refuge. While doing so, he informed his great desire in “aruLAy” (Shower your mercy) and “unadhadiyE saraNAmE” (Your divine feet are my only refuge) and concluded. Now, bhagavAn thought “What can we do to AzhwAr?” and remained in a different unique seat (assumed a different mood), manifested all of his svarUpa, rUpa, guNa, vibhUthi to AzhwAr and said “Everything other than me can be a simile or an attribute for me. I, who am having such nature, have come and presented myself to be seen with your eyes; in such situation; why are you calling out as if you have not attained something? Whatever is to be done in the future, I will do those also for you” and consoled AzhwAr. AzhwAr too meditates upon that and becomes pacified. As said in SrI rAmAyaNam ayOdhyA kANdam 112.25 “ArurOha ratham hrushta: Sathrugna sahithO balee” (bharatha climbed the chariot happily along with Sathrugna) – SrI bharathAzhwAn who came with great desire did not get his desire fulfilled; still, while returning he went joyfully; similarly, bhagavAn pacified AzhwAr.
