Simple Translation
Demons reside in lankA, under their king, rAvaNa. For the sake of sIthAp pirAtti, who had a slender waist, like lightning, perumAL drew his bow, which had no match, and shot an arrow, simultaneously severing the ten heads of rAvaNa, which were shining with ruby crowns. Bring a stick for that emperumAn, who has a divine crown. Bring a stick for one who built a dam across the ocean, with mountains.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
min … – sIthAp pirAtti had a waist which was like lightning. For the sake of pirAtti, who had a soft, divine form and who did not incarnate through a womb.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that rAvaNa was feeling proud about the strength of his boons, strength of his shoulders, the protection offered by the high compound walls built and the moats around his country. Not knowing what he was doing, he separated sIthAp pirAtti, who had lightning-like waist and who had not known anything about staying in a womb.
ilangaiyar mannan – rAvaNa separated such sIthAp pirAtti [from SrI rAma] and imprisoned her in lankA; he was also the controller of demons living there.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that with that [mentioned in the earlier verse] as the reason, SrIrAma severed the heads of such rAvaNa, who was the controller of demons [residing in lankA] and who had his ten heads covered with crowns made of ruby and other gemstones. However, since the heads were growing back again and again, despite being severed every time, he severed the ten heads all at the same time, such that they fell down together [never to grow again].
maNi mudi paththum udan vIzha – rAvaNa’s ten heads were decorated with crowns made of ruby. When SrI rAma cut off each head, due to the strength of the boon which he had obtained, the heads grew back in their respective place. Hence, SrI rAma severed all the ten heads, simultaneously, such that all ten fell down together.
thannigar … – the divine bow [held by SrI rAma] had no match. He drew that bow, through its end.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that it was through that incomparable divine bow that he had a victorious crown for himself.
vaLaiththu itta … – he shot the arrow from that bow, after drawing it
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that it was through that same bow that SrI rAma built a dam across the ocean, just as it has been mentioned in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 21-22 “chApamAnaya saumithrE” [Oh, lakshmaNa! Bring my bow and arrows].
minnu mudiyaRku – the crown of SrI rAma shone as a result of annihilating rAvaNa
vElai adaiththARku – it was for the sake of sIthAp pirAtti, described through verses such as periya thirumozhi 5.7.7 “surikuzhal kanivAy” (having beautiful locks and reddish mouth like kOvai fruit) that SrI rAma had built a dam across the ocean.
