Oh, pure one! Oh, one who is being our mother, having cool eyes which are like reddish lotus and showering your mercy for all creatures like a full moon having cool rays! Oh, one who incarnated as krishNa! Oh, one who is having the mouth which consumed the seven worlds surrounded by the ocean, which is having rising waves, during deluge! In which way will I, who understand your favours be able to forget you, who are a friend-in-need?

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

thUyAy … – As said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 5.29suhrudham sarvabhUthAnAm” (being the friend of all creatures), being friendly towards all creatures, he helps both who are favourable and unfavourable, without any difference. Oh, one who is having such purity! Oh, one who is having cool, divine eyes which shower mercy upon all creatures, in a motherly mood, just as a full moon would eliminate all the heat with cool rays! Here thaN is an adjective for the eyes. Alternative explanation – like a cool, full moon, one who showers your mercy on all creatures, and having divine eyes which manifest such vAthsalyam fully. Here thaN is an adjective for the moon.

AyA … – Oh, one who incarnated as krishNa to be claimed by one of your servitors [dhEvaki, vasudhEva, yaSOdhA, nandhagOpa] saying “He is my son”, even after being the mother of all!

alai nIr ulagEzhum – Oh, one who is having the nature of protecting everyone without any discrimination, when danger rises! Oh, one who is having the divine lips which consumed the earth which is surrounded by the ocean which is having rising waves! How can I forget you, who are a friend-in-need like this.
