Simple Translation

Just as a pot, containing juice of sugar cane, opens, letting out the juice from inside, with the nectar secreting from his divine mouth, laughing with the sound kaNa kaNa, feeling happy, krishNa comes forward, offering his juice from the divine mouth. He is obedient to me, with the divine complexion of bluish cloud, having periya pirAttiyAr on his divine chest. Will this krishNa, who is offering nectar from his divine mouth to me, who gave birth to him, making me flourish, not take tender steps on the heads of his enemies, who oppose him?

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

kannal … – just like a pot having sugar cane juice opens a little bit for the juice to drip and flow out, with water secreting and coming out from his [krishNa’s] divine mouth, laughing with the sound kaNa kaNa, feeling joyous. kaNa kaNa – refers to the sound which is made when one laughs with a gap in between.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the term kaNa kaNa also indicates warmth, implying that the nectar, drooling from his divine mouth, was warm and he laughed with that warmth.

mun … – coming forward and offering the flavour of his divine lips.

muththam – divine lips

en … – being obedient to me, having the form of a dark cloud and having connection with lakshmi, as the reason for that obedience.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that he is obedient to me such that I could proudly say that “He is mine”. The basis for his obedience is that SrI mahAlakshmi is always residing on his divine chest, just as it has been mentioned in thiruvAImozhi 6-10-10alarmEl mangai uRai mArbA” (Oh, one who has SrI mahAlakshmi, who is atop a lotus, residing constantly on your divine chest!)

thannai … – he offers the nectar of his divine mouth to me, who is fortunate to give birth him, making me flourish [from my earlier state of withering, before his birth]. Since it has been mentioned here that “He is offering nectar from his divine mouth, making me flourish”, in the present tense, the term mentioned earlier “muththam tharum” implies that giving his  divine nectar is his nature, which takes place often.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the verse mentioned earlier “muththam thandhu aruLum” was periyAzhwAr’s prayer and the term ”vAyamudham thandhu ennaith thaLirppikkinRAn” refers to fulfilment of his wish. ennaith thaLirppikkinRAn – krishNa’s nectar like drooling is the water for nurturing crops, and periyAzhwAr exists because of that.

thaneRRu … – will he not take divine steps on the heads of enemies who oppose him?

Here thiruvAimozhip piLLai says that asking krishNa to take tender steps on the heads of his enemies is AzhwAr’s prayer or his affirmation that he would certainly walk on their heads or his fear as to what will happen if krishNa were to walk on their heads.

We shall next consider the 5th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
