AzhwAr became blissful due to the benefit which is difficult to attain, that is, seeing bhagavAn, who is to be seen after reaching dhESaviSEsham (special abode, paramapadham), in thirunaRaiyUr which is in this samsAram itself, as said in “nAn senRu nAdi naRaiyUris kaNdEnE“, in the previous padhigam. Now, he is instructing his heart “Oh heart! After seeing him, we should try to engage in acts which are matching for his true nature and our true nature”. In thirunaRaiyUr, even in animals/birds, the feminine entity has more dominance/importance. Hence, for thirunaRaiyUr nambi who is present there, pirAtti (SrI mahAlakshmi, in the form of vanjuLavallith thAyAr), has greater importance. Hence, his being the refuge, is manifested without any shortcoming there.
Those who are very tender will repeatedly pour water on their faces. Similarly, AzhwAr is repeatedly performing prapaththi (surrender) and will continue to do it until he attains paramapadham.
SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 18-33, “sakrudhEva prapannAya thavAsmIthi cha yAchathE l abhayam sarvabhUthEbhyO dhadhami Ethath vratham mama ll” (To the person who surrenders to me once and to the person who tells me ‘I am your servitor’ I offer protection from all entities alive. This is my solemn vow). In this, for “sakruth Eva” (only once), kUraththAzhwAn explained it as “sahasaiva” (immediately) [hence everytime, AzhwAr thinks about bhagavAn, he surrenders]. embAr mercifully explained it as “If we look at the huge benefit we receive, that is paramapadham, is repeatedly surrendering within one [final] birth, looking like multiple surrender? [No. It is natural for us to repeatedly request him in this final birth]”. AzhwAr cannot sustain with anything other than attaining bhagavAn; he is not considering the presence of any other upAyam (means) than prapaththi; this is the nature of prapaththi which will make us think that there are not other means to reach bhagavAn.
