Simple Translation

periya pirAttiyAr, who resides on a reddish lotus flower, which is full of honey, sent a garland which was handcrafted with fragrant thuLasi, cultivated in the forest and garland for the divine forehead made from kaRpaga flowers, which had been plucked from kaRpaga trees which had grown in a garden filling up the entire sky. Oh, one who is the supreme entity! Do not cry; do not cry. May you go to sleep. Oh, one who is mercifully reclining in thirukkudandhai! May you go to sleep.

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

kAnAr … – garland made by handcrafting thuLasi which had grown in its fertile land, due to which it was flourishing and fragrant.

vAnAr … – garland for the divine forehead strung with karpaga flowers which had grown in a tree that had filled up the entire sky as if it were a garden. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that though there were many kaRpaga trees in the ethereal region, each tree appeared as if it were a garden by itself.

thEnAr …– the garlands were sent by periya pirAttiyAr who dwells on the lotus flower from which honey will never stop dripping. She is always with the age of yuvathiScha kumAriNi (about 16, between the stages of adolescent and adult). thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that whatever periya pirAttiyAr sends is aprAkrutham [not seen in samsAram, the materialistic realm]. She sends them through entities who are also aprAkruthar [those who do not dwell in samsAram].

kOnE … – Oh, one who is the lord of everyone such that everyone desires to carry out servitude to you! Do not cry; do not cry. May you go to sleep. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: Oh, one who is the controller of both vibhUthi [nithya vibhUthi, the spiritualistic realm and samsAram, the materialistic realm]! This implies that he is the head of the clan of herd-folk.

kudandhai …– Oh, one who is mercifully reclining in thirukkudandhai, to manifest a simplicity which is the exact opposite of the eminence which was just seen! May you go to sleep. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that by reclining in the third vibhUthi [dhivyadhEsam or divine abode] he administers the other two vibhUthis.

We shall next consider the 8th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
