avathArikai (Introduction)
This pAsuram mentions about the servitude carried out by rudhra, who is counted next to brahmA in the order of importance and who prides himself as ISvaran [controller of all]. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that it was not only this [referring to the servitude of brahmA], even rudhra sent something to him.

udai Ar – apt for the divine waist

Simple Translation
rudhra, who has bull as his vehicle, who dons a skull and who is the controller of his followers, sent a waist cord, apt for krishNa’s divine waist, with golden bells, strung in-between with figurines and knife. Oh, one who has everything! Do not cry; do not cry. May you go to sleep. Oh, one who measured all the worlds! May you go to sleep.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
udai … – waist-cord, strung with golden bells, with figurines in between and knives, apt for the divine waist. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that apart from gems such as golden bells etc, other materials which are both decorative and splendorous have been strung in that waist cord. ezhil thezhgu refers to a beautiful knife which is placed in that waist cord.
vidai … – rudhran, who has bull as his vehicle, who has skull as his identity and who is the controller of his followers, sent.
udai … – even if someone were to say [claiming some possession as] “It is mine”, oh, one who has everything including those people [who had said “It is mine”] and their possessions! Do not cry; do not cry; may you go to sleep. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that even before these entities had sent those materials as their servitude, emperumAn had these entities and he materials sent by them, as his possession.
ulagam … – Oh, one who lay claim to everything through your action of measuring all the worlds! May you go to sleep. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that when emperumAn measured the worlds, none said “Do not step on my head”. If they had known that emperumAn was going to step on their heads, they might have stood on their heads.
