Now onwards, I, who have the strong faith in my heart where you have entered, will offer eight types of abundantly fragrant, best flowers at your reddish, beautiful divine feet, worship with my hands and praise you, and will not let you leave.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

gandham … – Offering eight distinguished, abundantly fragrant flowers; they are – karumugai, kaRpagam, nAzhal, mandhAram, saugandhi, sengazhunIr, thAmarai and kaidhai. Inner meaning – offering oneself towards emperumAn who is revealed through the most enjoyable thirumanthram; since he is known as “sarvagandha:” (the abode of all fragrance), [AzhwAr is saying] worshipping your desirable, reddish, divine feet with my hands, in my heart which is desiring to be liberated.

pugndhAyaip pOgalottEn – You having entered my heart without my praying for it, will not let you leave. Will anyone abandon the relationship which occurred without any thought from self?

sandhi … – nithya karmam (daily rituals), naimiththika karmam (periodic rituals), sadangu – kAmya karmam (rituals which are done for worldly benefits), four vEdhams – which ordain the manner in which these karmams are to be performed; learning these from those who are already knowledgeable in these, such ancient brAhmaNas are continuously residing in thiruvAli; in such thiruvAli, oh sarvESvara who remains as their refuge! While they are present, you have entered my heart voluntarily; in such a case, I will never let you leave.
