Simple Translation

dhuryOdhana, son of dhritharAshtra, was sitting radiantly like sUryan, in his court, surrounded by kings, who were wearing valorous anklets. Upon seeing you, entering the court, he attempted to get up from his throne. Again, hiding that act through his wrath, he sat down, looking at you as if to harm you. Oh, one who looked at that dhuryOdhana, who was indulging in conspiracies, with intense anger! You should embrace me. Oh, one who is holding the divine disc in your beautiful, divine hand! You should embrace.

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

kazhal … – upon getting to know that krishNa was coming as the messenger of pANdavas, all the kings in neighbouring countries, wearing their valorous anklets, came to the royal court of dhuryOdhana, sat around him, in a servile manner. dhuryOdhana was sitting on his throne, being radiant like the sun, on account of his crown and other ornaments which he had worn, as well as his due to his power. He had told the kings “When krishNa comes, don’t get up or enquire about his well-being”. He had laid a false throne, by digging a pit under it so that when krishNa sat on it, it would break and krishNa would be carried down below. He had organised wrestlers in the pit, below the false throne, so that when krishNa falls into the pit, the wrestlers would punch him and maul him. However, when krishNa entered the court, all the kings, not being under their control, got up and offered salutations to him, just as it has been mentioned in mahAbhAratham sabhA parvam 75 “avaSA: prathibhEdhirE” (they carried out, obediently). dhuryOdhana too, out of fear, attempted to get up from his throne, upon seeing krishNa, but sat again, hiding his wrath towards krishNa.

thiruvAimozhi piLLai says here that the kings in the neighbourhood were powerful too and sat around dhuryOdhana. After seeing the kings getting up from their respective seat and paying obeisance to krishNa, despite his order not to do that, dhuryOdhana too attempted to get up and thought “This is the time for seeing the result of the earlier planned conspiratorial acts” and remembered ordering his wrestlers to wait for krishNa to fall down from the false throne that he had laid out for him.

unnai … – dhuryOdhana was looking at you with the intention of harming you through the false throne etc, carrying out conspiratorial activities. Oh, one who looked at that dhuryOdhana with the fury in your divine mind appearing blatantly in your eyes! You should embrace me.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that krishNa too, aware of the hints, made the conspiracies hatched by dhuryOdhana, to turn on him by looking at him widely, with intense anger in his divine eyes.

Azhi am kainyanE … – Oh, one who is holding the divine disc on your divine hand! You should embrace.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the divine disc was more like an ornament on the divine hands of krishNa, since he had already looked at dhuryOdhana with intense anger. By calling dhuryOdhana as duchchOsana, AzhwAr says that he has a heart which cannot be corrected by anyone.

We shall next consider the 6th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
