periyAzhwAr thirumozhi >> First Centum
In the earlier thirumozhi [divine verse] [1.5 – uyya ulagu], yaSOdhAp pirAtti had prayed for and enjoyed krishNa’s activity, as a child, when he performed sengIrai, during the time of his incarnation. AzhwAr, having been granted knowledge and devotion, without any trace of ignorance, and having her affection for krishNa, was also able to enjoy his activity, at the same time that she did. Now, just as she had prayed to krishNa for performing another activity, as a child, of chappANi kottudhal [clapping his hands], and enjoyed the flavour of his activity, AzhwAr too, not being satiated with witnessing one activity of his [performing sengIrai], due to his overflowing affection, desires to enjoy the flavour of his chappANi kottudhal. He enjoys that activity, just as she had enjoyed with her, words.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam says: In the earlier thirumozhi, AzhwAr had made krishNa to become tired, by telling him “You should dance; you should dance”. The purpose of this was to make samsAris [those who inhabit materialistic realm] to perform activities which are mentioned in SAsthrams [sacred texts], to the extent possible for them and to carry out servitude to emperumAn, just as he [krishNa] had done when he incarnated as a samsAri. Now, through the pretext of “chappANi” he expresses his Akinchanyam (not having anything with him as a means to attain emperumAn) and protects the world.
