Simple Translation

ANdAL, who has eyebrows which defeat a bow [in their shape], who has amazing qualities and who is the daughter of periyAzhwAr, the leader of SrIvillipuththUr, desired kaNNapirAn, who has the eminence of creating mischiefs in thiruvAyppAdi and is splendorous as the auspicious lamp for thiruvAyppAdi. Those who worship and recite this decad, composed mercifully, with desire and with unsatiated love by ANdAL, will not quiver in pain in the ocean of samsAram.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

allal viLaiththa perumAnai – just as it has been said in SrI rAmAyaNam ayOdhyA kANdam 2-26 “thE thamUchur mahAthmAnam paurajAnapathais saha l bahavO nrupa! kalyANa guNA puthrasya santhi thE ll” (Those [chieftains] along with people in urban and rural areas, told the eminent dhaSaratha as follows: Oh king! Your son SrI rAma has many auspicious qualities), those in the divine city of ayOdhyA were fully involved with the auspicious qualities of SrI rAma and did not know anything else. In the same way, those in thiruvAyppAdi were fully engaged with the mischiefs of kaNNan. Just as SrI rAma was dear to one’s mind on account of his auspicious qualities, did not kaNNan become eminent on account of roaming everywhere, stealing butter and girls, creating suffering, as mentioned in periya thirumozhi 10-7-2 “pAlum padhinkudam kaNdilEn” (I am not able to find the ten vessels which contained milk)! He shined like an auspicious lamp since he was the supreme entity creating all these mischiefs and sufferings. It appears that when he was not carrying out any mischief, the entire place would be in darkness!

aNi viLakkai – since his mischiefs were sweet like sugarcane to them, he was like a decoration for the entire thiruvAyppAdi. The auspicious qualities of SrI rAma were bitter, in thiruvAyppAdi. kaNNan roamed around the entire place, with his mischiefs giving bright radiance to thiruvAyppAdi.

villi pudhuvai nagar vittu chiththan viyan kOdhai … vEtkaiyuRRu miga virumbum sollai – the firmness in her desire [for kaNNan] alone translated into this decad and is coming to an end now. She says that the reason for this desire is because of her birth as the daughter of periyAzhwAr.

villaith tholaiththa puruvaththAL – her eyebrows were such that the bow could not stand in comparison. The radiance of her limbs was such that all the materials which desired to be allegories to her limbs got destroyed.

vEtkaiyuRRu miga virumbiya sol – her love towards kaNNapirAn multiplied manifold, just like bhUthaththAzhwAr had said in iraNdAm thiruvandhAdhi 100endhan aLavanRAl yAnudaiya anbu” (my affection for you has grown so much that it has become much bigger than I). It outgrew her AthmA too, manifesting like a huge love, making her sing pAsurams, which were composed with that love, to be said as “words which were overflowing with experience about emperumAn”.

sollaith thudhikka vallArgaL – however much a samsAri jIvan (an entity dwelling in this world) tries, (s)he cannot attain her [ANdAL’s] desire. It is enough if one recites the pAsurams composed by her with such huge love.

thunbak kadaluL thuvaLArE – since ANdAL, as the mother, had suffered for their sake too, these people, who are in samsAram, instead of suffering and quivering like a soft tender leaf, when put in fire, will attain the bhagavadh anubhavam (experiencing emperumAn) which she had desired, by reciting the pAsurams mercifully composed by her.

Next, we will consider the pravESam of the next decad.
