Simple Translation
Oh, one who is valorous, building a bridge across the ocean to destroy the clans of demons in lankA, making that country into a battlefield! We are immature children; our bosoms have not yet risen. Every day, you are indulging in the act of destroying our houses; however, there is a meaning to your activities, which we have not learnt that well. Do not torment us.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
muRRilAdha piLLaigaLOm – kaNNan started indulging in certain activities, which they [the girls in thiruvAyppAdi] cannot reveal to others. When you indulge in certain activities should you not think “Are they apt for these activities?” We are not of that age when we could comprehend your thoughts. We are at an immature stage, now.
mulai pOndhilAdhOmai – even though we do not have knowledge and the apt age, if our bosoms had risen, you could have indulged in these activities in order to enjoy them. We are not appropriate for that too.
nAdoRum – it is not that you are indulging in these deeds on one occasion, by mistake. Aren’t you doing this every day?
siRRil ….. siRidhuNdu – there is an inner meaning for the activity that you are indulging in, in the name of destroying our houses.
thiNNena nAm adhu kaRRilOm – we have not learnt that activity well. We have not learnt the art of love that you have learnt. We have not learnt this in gurukulavAsam [staying with a teacher at his/her residence and learning]. “Even though you haven’t learnt it, I have” saying thus, he started indulging in certain activities [such as embracing them etc], tormenting them. Looking at that, they say
kadalai …. sEvagA – Oh, one who has the valour with which you built a bridge on the ocean which none had built before, destroying the clans of demons in lankA and converting that land into a battle field, which none had ever succeeded in, before!
emmai vAdhiyEl – Do not engage in a war, with us. Do not carry out activities, which you indulge in with your enemies, when you are amidst your favourable ones. You had earlier removed the enemies for the sake of a lady [sIthAp pirAtti]. Your indulging in a similar activity now appears to convey the meaning that you are joining us and waging a war against her.
Next, we will consider the 7th pAsuram of this decad.
