Eighth pAsuram – Retracting from the darkness, parAnkusa nAyaki walked aimlessly and reached a salt-pan, which too is dark and walked in to it. Seeing it overflowing like those who cross the boundaries and send messages to their beloved, she asks “Oh poor thing! Did you get captivated in krishNa’s act of killing sakatAsura?”.

Thus, did you become captivated with the compassion of the great person (krishNa), who kicked the rolling wheel (sakatAsura) with his lotus feet, and did you feel pained?

- iruLin thiNi vaNNam – fearsome darkness; not darkness mixed with some light – after extracting all light and making it as dense as a diamond. It is also explained as – Oh salt-pan that has the color of dense darkness and lots of water!
- pOy maruL uRRu – greatly bewildered. Your bewilderment matches that of those [AzhwAr et al] who are blessed with unblemished knowledge/devotion.
- irAp pagal … – Even time which is endless may end; but we are not sighting an end for your suffering.
- uruLum sagadam udhaiththa – The wheel of the same cart which was kept as protection for krishNa, being possessed by an asura, started rolling towards krishNa. Even his own mother was not there to protect him; angered by not having been nursed (out of such anger), krishNa kicked the wheel and killed the asura and thus gave the lord to the universe [by protecting himself, he gave himself to us]. Hoping that such upakAraka (great saviour), will also help his beloved.
- aruLin peru nasaiyAl – [our] attachment is correspondingly greater with respect to [his] compassion.
- AzhAndhu nondhAyE – did you become flattened by his compassion and thus feel pained [due to separation from such compassionate emperumAn]?
