Simple Translation
ANdAL, who has locks which come down well and who is the divine daughter of periyAzhwAr, the leader of those who live in SrIvillipuththUr, which is shining with mansions made of gold, had told her relatives firmly, in this thirumozhi, to carry her to a few divine abodes from SrI mathurA to SrI dhwArakA. Those who are capable of reciting this thirumozhi, mercifully composed by her with sweet tunes, as a garland with beautiful words, will reside only in parama padham.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
mannu madhurai thodakkam Aga vaN thuvarApadhi thannaLavum – starting with his place of birth of mathurA, which has connection with emperumAn, till dhwArakA where emperumAn gave himself to his sixteen thousand consorts. Starting with the first pAsuram “madhuraip puRaththu” until the ninth pAsuram “thuvarApadhikku ennai uyththidumin” since ANdAL speaks about his divine abodes, it could be said that she considers only these divine abodes as earth.
mannu madhurai – has she herself not mercifully mentioned in thiruppAvai 5 ”mannu vadamadhurai”? It is pertinent to recall the words mercifully mentioned in thiruppAvai mUvAyirappadi vyAkyAnam “It is an abode which does not change from its connection with emperumAn. Earlier, this was the sidhdhASramam [hermitage] of emperumAn when he carried out penance for a long time during his incarnation as vAmana. Later, SathrugnAzhwAn made it as his capital, after destroying his enemies. Thus, this is an abode where sarvESvaran keeps incarnating”.
vaN thuvarApadhi – has she herself not mercifully mentioned in her nAchchiyAr thirumozhi 7-9 “padhinARAm Ayiravar dhEvimAr parththiruppa ….. podhuvAga uNbadhanai” confirming that it is the abode where he offered himself to his sixteen thousand consorts?
thannaith thamar uyththup peyya vENdi – since she was not in a position to walk herself [due to weakness brought about by separation] she had to request her relatives to carry her.
thAzh kuzhalAL thuNiththa thuNivai – since she did not attain him, she had not kept herself impeccably; she had let her locks loose, instead of combing and tying. She had firmness in her mind that he would lose out to her condition and come her way.
ponniyal mAdam polindhu thOnRum pudhuvaiyar kOn vittu chiththan kOdhai – SrIvillipuththUr was shining due to the golden mansions. She is the divine daughter of periyAzhwAr. who was the leader of those who resided in that divine abode. The opinion here is that this abode matched the mansions which were present in the opulent dhwArakA.
innisiayAl sonna senjol mAlai Eththa vallArkku – this thirumozhi has been composed with words which are set to sweet tune, and which are overflowing with affection. Those who are capable of reciting this thirumozhi.
idam vaikundhamE – unlike ANdAL, who could not walk due to her distress caused by separation and who had to request her relatives to carry her to the divine abodes which he desired to reside in, those who recite this thirumozhi will be welcomed by the assembly of AthivAhikar [those who help the mukthAthmA travel in the path to parama padham, under instruction from emperumAn], will travel through the path of archis and enjoy emperumAn and his followers in SrI vaikuNtam.
Next, we will consider the pravESam for the thirteenth decad.
