Simple Translation
I was looking at you when you were going through my street, hugging a girl who had a slender waist, like lightning, covering your head with gold coloured dress, in pitch darkness. Even as you were going with her, you saw another girl there and signalled to her to meet you in a particular place. Oh the one, with completeness in all qualities! Why did you leave that innocent girl and come here? You may go back to her.
vyAkyAnamn (Commentary)
min oththa nuN idaiyALaik koNdu – going with a girl with a very slender waist, as thin as lightning, and hugging her waist without hurting it.
vIngiruL vAy – darkness was helping you such that you could not be spotted taking steps in it.
endhan vIdhiyUdE – while going with her, couldn’t you have gone through some other street? Whose street did you think it was? Without any fear, did you not go through my street?
pon oththa Adai kukkUdalittup pOginRa pOdhu – even as you were going, hiding yourself, did you not go with a golden dress which would have given brightness even to that darkness? Did you not go without any fear of “We are going with such and such girl. We are going through a street where a girl, who has deep affection for me, is living. We are going in pitch darkness”?
pOginRa 0pOdhu nAn kaNdu ninREn – Unlike you, I am not one who thinks of others. Since I know “Where you are going, what you are doing” etc, I was watching as to what all you were doing.
She says further that he was not true to that girl too…
kaNNuRRavaLai – Even as you were going, hugging this girl, you spotted another girl going that way.
nI kaNNAl ittu – you glanced at her and signalled to her to be your servitor.
kai viLikkinRadhum kaNdE ninREn – hugging this girl, you gesticulated to that other girl with your hands “Come to that place” I saw all these.
ennukku avaLai vittu ingu vandhAy – not knowing your nature, that innocent girl believed that you are a truthful person. Why did you leave her, making her hate you, and come here? As soon as he heard this, kaNNan told her “Are there other people for me? Am I not one who does not have anyone other than you?” . . . .
innam angE nada nambi nIyE – She tells him “Are you not one who is complete with all good qualities? Could you speak such words as if you were one with some shortcoming? You may go back to that place itself”
