Full Series<\/a><\/p>\n << Previous<\/a><\/p>\n Tataha svacharanambhoja sparsa sampanna sowrabaihi \/<\/span><\/i> (w to w)<\/span> Tataha<\/span><\/i> \u00a0– After preaching the gist of meaning of <\/span>Divya Prabandhas<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>sva charana \u00a0ambhoja \u00a0sparsa sampanna sowrabaihi \u00a0– <\/span><\/i>by the association of his fragrant feet, <\/span>Pavanaihi – <\/span><\/i>purity, <\/span>theerthaihi \u00a0– <\/span><\/i>given to consume <\/span>Sripada theertham<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>arththinaha – <\/span><\/i>disciples prayed to give <\/span>Sripada theertham<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>bhavayantham<\/span><\/i> \u00a0– which uplifts, <\/span>tham \u00a0– <\/span><\/i>that Mamunigal, <\/span>bhajami – <\/span><\/i>I am prostrating.<\/span><\/p>\n (Commentary)<\/span> In this <\/span>Sloka<\/span><\/i>, Mamunigal, after preaching the gist of meaning of \u00a0<\/span>Divya Prabandhas<\/span><\/i>, as requested by the disciples, he distributed his <\/span>Sripada theertham <\/span><\/i>for their consumption. Since Sri Ramanuja was not alive by then, Mamunigal felt that, he being his reincarnation, it will not be wrong to distribute his <\/span>Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i> to his disciples. Disciples also pleaded with him. It is to be noted that since the feet of Mamunigal is like lotus and by its association, the <\/span>theertham<\/span><\/i> gets fragrance and purity. The plurality of word <\/span>theerthaihi<\/span><\/i>, denotes \u00a0that he gave <\/span>Sripada theertham <\/span><\/i>three times. The <\/span>Smriti<\/span><\/i> reminds \u2018<\/span>threehi pibeth\u2019 <\/span><\/i>\u00a0which means that <\/span>Sripada Theertham <\/span><\/i>is to be taken three times. In some places <\/span>Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i> is given only two times. For this action, there is a reference in <\/span>Usana Smriti<\/span><\/i>. \u00a0It is said that the <\/span>Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i> of \u00a0<\/span>Bhagavatas<\/span><\/i> will render purity and it is equal to drinking the juice of <\/span>Soma<\/span><\/i> plant. Further it states that during the course of sacrificial offering, one has to take two times <\/span>Sripada Theertham <\/span><\/i>which is equal to taking juice of the <\/span>Soma<\/span><\/i> plant. So, <\/span>Sastra<\/span><\/i> accepts two types of giving <\/span>Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i> and one need to practice it according to one\u2019s <\/span>sampradaya<\/span><\/i>. In Bharadwaja <\/span>Samhitha<\/span><\/i> it is stated that to get <\/span>Upadesa <\/span><\/i>from Acharya, the disciple has to consume<\/span> Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i> which is a part of the process. Hence, in the last <\/span>Sloka<\/span><\/i>, having mentioned about the preaching of gist of <\/span>Divya Prabandhas<\/span><\/i>, here, <\/span>Sripada Theertham <\/span><\/i>is mentioned sequentially. Erumbiappa \u00a0being absorbed \u00a0in the <\/span>Upadesa<\/span><\/i>, the word \u2018<\/span>namami\u2019<\/span><\/i> is mentioned in the last <\/span>Sloka<\/span><\/i>. Now, having conditioned his mind by getting <\/span>Sripada Theertham<\/span><\/i>, \u00a0Erumbiappa \u00a0uses the word \u2018<\/span>bhajami<\/span><\/i>\u2019.
