Please tell us about his nature.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> replies \u2013 One who is having <em>thiruvAzhiyAzhvAn<\/em> (divine disc) that is frightening to the enemies, who is the master for all the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmAs<\/a>, (that is, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>), \u2013 when in the middle of two armies, due to affection toward relatives when arjunan had lost interest, like how some would assist by bringing out and giving the gems that are settled under the sea, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, in the sea of vEdhAntham brought out what were kept as secret meanings and what were of great value, and gave them through <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">SrI gIthA Sasthram<\/a> \u2013 even after such a help, in this time of kali, worldly people were under that kali&#8217;s spell and were suffering;<\/p>\n<p>to that very important Sasthram which is in the form of <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">gIthA<\/a>, he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>) wrote vyAkyAnam (commentary) and to explain that to everyone he followed the worldly people everywhere all the way to bhadhrikASramam \u2013 there is no other people of such great quality, you see! sound of vEdhas,<\/p>\n<p>and for all the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jeevAthmAs<\/a> to be uplifted,<\/p>\n<p><em>aLippa<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> gave such meanings through <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/githartha-sangraham-3\/\">SrI gIthA<\/a> and helped the people;<br \/>\n<em>pinnum<\/em> \u2013 even after that,<br \/>\n<em>kAsiniyOr<\/em> \u2013 people of the earth<br \/>\n<em>idarin kaN<\/em> \u2013 due to sadness of worldly existence (samsAram)<br \/>\n<em>veezhndhida<\/em> \u2013 had immersed in it to the bottom;<br \/>\n<em>thAnum<\/em> \u2013 he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>) too,<br \/>\n<em>avvoN poruL koNdu<\/em> \u2013 using the distinguished meanings which <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> had given earlier,<\/p>\n<p>till such meanings are understood and followed by everyone,<\/p>\n<p><em>avar pin padarum guNan <\/em>\u2013 he followed them and gave the meanings \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> having such quality;<br \/>\n<em>em<\/em> \u2013 he who gave himself completely to us,<br \/>\n<em>iraAmAnusan than<\/em> \u2013 such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s<br \/>\n<em>padi idhu<\/em> \u2013 nature is such.<\/p>\n<p>When using the phrase as \u2018<em>Aruyir nAthan <strong>enRu<\/strong><\/em> <em>AraNach chol kadal koNda oN poruL kaNdaLippa\u2019<\/em>, it says that <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> <strong>being<\/strong> the lord of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jeevAthmAs<\/a>, had given the meanings through <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/githartha-sangraham-3\/\">SrI gIthA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>adal \u2013 midukku<\/em> \u2013 strength\/pride.<br \/>\n<em>padi<\/em> \u2013 <em>svabhAvam<\/em> \u2013 character \/ inherent nature;<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAk<em>yAnam<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>adal koNda nEmiyan<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 For the enemies of His devotees, enemies like the crocodile that troubled the elephant in the pool, and the <em>brahmAsthram <\/em>dispatched by <em>asvaththAmA<\/em> which came to kill <em>parIkshith, <\/em>etc., he is of the appearance that is completely frightening, that is <em>thiruvAzhi AzhvAn<\/em> (divine disc) which is as said in \u2018<em>vadivAr sOdhi valaththu uRaiyum sudar Azhi<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/06\/thiruppallandu-2-adiyomodum\/\">[thiruppallANdu &#8211; 2<\/a>]\u2019 (he having the light that is spread in Your divine body, and who stays permanently in Your divine right hand) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> having such divine disc in his hand as the main weapon;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>adal<\/em> \u2013 <em>midukku<\/em> \u2013 strength\/pride.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Aruyir nAthan<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 As said in \u2018<em>pathim viSvasya AthmESvaram\u2019 <\/em>(He is the owner of the whole world<em>, <\/em>does not have some one else as the owner for Him),\u00a0 <em>\u2018uthAmruthathvasyESAna:\u2019<\/em> (He is the owner of Himself)<em>, <\/em>\u00a0\u2018<em>ayarvaRum amarargaL adhipathi<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/03\/thiruvaimozhi-1-1-1-uyarvara-uyarnalam\/\">thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 1.1.1<\/a>]\u2019 (~ head of the nithyasUrIs (in SrIvaikuNtam) who are never forgetful), He is the lord of all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jeevAthmas<\/a>; since it says \u2018<em>nAthru yAnchyAyAm\u2019<\/em> (<em>dhAthu for nAthan)<\/em> &#8211; He is such that all the benefits\/meanings get begged from Him; as said in \u2018<em>EkObahUnAm yOvidhadhAthi kAmAn<\/em> (He is one, we are many, He is the one who gives what we ask for)<em>\u2019,<\/em> He is the one from whom to get all types of goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>anRu<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0\u2018<em>thathra thAvath pANdavAnAm kuruNancha yudhdhE prArabhdhE sabhagavAn purushOththama: sarvESvara: jagath upakruthi marthya: pArtam rathinam AthmAnancha sArathim sarva lOka sAkshikanchakAra <\/em>\u2019 [<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s gIthA bhAshyam avathArikai (introduction)] (At the start of war between pANdavas and kauravas, that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who is purushOththama (who is the noblest of all) and who is the lord for all (everyone else has to listen to him), He with the thought of giving help to the world, sat arjunan in the chariot, and set Himself as the charioteer, for all to see, and rode the chariot), when both <em>kauravas<\/em> and <em>pANdavas<\/em> had assembled ready for the war, arjunan saw his groups of relatives among both the armies, and said in despair, words like \u2018<em>pithreenatha pithAmahAn mAthulAn svaSurAn bhrAthreen puthrAn pauthrAn sakeemsthathA\u2019<\/em> (list of relatives)<em>,<\/em> etc., and so in place of dharma (of doing the war) he tended his mind on adharma (backing out as a <em>kshathriya <\/em>who has to get back his stolen kingdom), and said \u2018<em>yEshAm arthE kAngkshitham nOrAjyam bhOghAn sukAni cha, tha imE vasthitha yudhdhE prANAsthyukthvA dhanAni cha || AchArya:pithra:puthrA: | EthAnnahanthumichchAmi ghanathOpi madhusUdhana\u2019<\/em> (I don\u2019t want these benefits, nor the kingdom and its comforts, in the war where we are ready, I don\u2019t have the wish to get the wealth by killing all of these people; I do not have the inclination to kill them even the ones who are said in SAsthras as eligible bad ones to be killed, Oh madhusUdhana! (this name of Him indicates -you being the one who killed asuras only and not AchAryas etc));<\/p>\n<p>and \u2018<em>visrujya saSaram chApam<\/em> <em>chOga samvigna mAnasa<\/em>: (bow and arrows fell from his hands, and sat down with full of sadness, avoiding the war);<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>anRu &#8211; <\/strong><\/em>on that day \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>AraNachchol kadal koNda ON poruL kaNdu aLippa<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Like helping by bringing out gems that are hidden on the floor in the middle of ocean, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, from the parts of vEdhAntha that are majestic like the ocean, fully observed for the most secret and most valuable and distinguished meanings <em>(artham),<\/em> gave those meanings to him, and protected him; they are as said in \u2018<em>thAvAn sarvEshu vEdhEshu brAhmaNasya vijAnatha:\u2019<\/em> (~the meanings I said in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">gIthA<\/a> are present in vEdhas which is for all types of people, you choose the one), \u2018<em>thamEva mathvA amrutha ihabhavathi\u2019<\/em> (one who understands brahmam becomes equivalent to Him (in eight auspicious qualities)), \u2018<em>thamEvam vidhithvA athimruthyu mEthi <\/em>(understands Him and crosses the ocean of worldly life), \u2018<em>AnandhO brahmEthi vyajAnAth\u2019<\/em> (understand it is brahmam that is the Anandham), <em>\u2018pathim viSvasyA AthmESvaram\u2019<\/em> (To himself <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">Isvaran<\/a> is the lord (no body else));<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/githai-karappangadu-wrapper-e1435046879573.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2624\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/githai-karappangadu-wrapper-e1435046879573.jpeg\" alt=\"githai-karappangadu-wrapper\" width=\"475\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/githai-karappangadu-wrapper-e1435046879573.jpeg 475w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/githai-karappangadu-wrapper-e1435046879573-300x294.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, alternatively;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>anRu<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 (when near the <em>end<\/em> of giving <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">Sri bhagavath gIthA<\/a>) \u2013 As arjunan asked in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/2-7\/\">2.7<\/a> \u2018<em>kArpaNya dhOshOpahathasvabhAva: pruchchAmi thvA dharmasammUdachEthA: | yachrEya: syAn nichchitham brUhi thanmE Sishyas thEham SAdhimAm thvAm prapannam ||\u2019<\/em> (~please tell me what is good for me), krishNan advised him the means for getting mOksham, the list starting with <em>karma yOgam, gyAna yOgam, bhathi yOgam, <\/em>secret of His incarnations<em>, purushOththama vidhyai, <\/em>etc.<\/p>\n<p>Then arjunan became very sad at that time (<em>anRu), <\/em>with the realization that these means are hard to do, would create bewilderment, would take a lot of time to give benefit, and also against the true nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> being subservient; \u00a0at that time;<em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>AraNachchol kadal koNda ON poruL kaNdu aLippa<\/strong><\/em> \u2013 in the ocean that is the collection of words of vEdhAntham, he saw and collected the most secret ones that are most distinguished like said in the vEdhas: \u2018<em>thasmAn nyAsa mEshAm thapasAm athiriktha mAhu:&#8221;, &#8220;vEdhAntha vigyAna sunischithArththA: san nyAsa yOgAth yathayaSSudhdha sathvA: | thE brahma lOkEthu parAnthakAlE parAmruthAthparimuchyanthi sarvE&#8221;, &#8220;nakarmaNAna prajayAdhanEna thyAgEnaigE amruthathva mAnaSa:&#8221;,<\/em> ( ~ among the ones I said, nyAsam (SaraNAgathi) is supreme, those who fully possess tranquil quality follow this only; you would not get it through the karmas, yAgams, hOmams, etc., that you do) etc.,<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>aLippa<\/strong> &#8211; <\/em>and He gave the two SlOkas of \u2018<em>manmanA bhava mathbakththa:\u2019<\/em>, and \u2018<em>sarva dharmAn parithyajya<\/em>\u2019, for uplifting all sentient, and using the sadness of arjunan as excuse, He advised about prapaththi (SaraNAgathi), for saving everyone in the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pinnum <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 and in the latter time of kali yugam too,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kAsiniyOr<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 all the sentient in this world; <em>kAsini -&gt;<\/em> earth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>idarin kaN veezhndhida<\/em> <\/strong>\u2013 people had fallen in to the sadness of worldly affairs and reached its bottom; in dhvApara yugam it was one person that is arjunan who was having the trouble, but in kali yugam it is the people of the whole world who are having trouble, you see.\u00a0 Due to not being able to tolerate this, because of his (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s) loving kindness, he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>) \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thAnum avvoN poruL koNdu <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> also, made <em>vyAkyAnam<\/em> (commentary) for that commendable <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">gIthA SAsthram<\/a>, and using that meaning;<\/p>\n<p>Or, approaching <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/27\/thirukkoshtiyur-nambi\/\">thirukkOshtiyUr nambi<\/a> eighteen times and using what <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/27\/thirukkoshtiyur-nambi\/\">he<\/a> gave as the ultimate secret, that is, the meaning of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2015\/12\/rahasya-thrayam.html\">charama SlOkam<\/a> \u2013 <\/em>using that meaning;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>avar pin padarum guNan<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 he enlightened those sentient in the world going after them up to and including <em>bhadharIkASramam<\/em>, he went after them and removed their sorrows of worldly affairs; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> having such quality of kindness.<br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\nOr,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thAnum<\/em> \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> also,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>avvoN poruL koNdu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>after going to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/27\/thirukkoshtiyur-nambi\/\">thirukkOshtiyUr nambi<\/a> eighteen times, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/27\/thirukkoshtiyur-nambi\/\">nambi<\/a> got a promise that it would be kept the most secret, and gave <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> the meanings of charama SlOkam;
