She says that those who learn would get the same benefit as those who actually performed (gOpikAs in dhvApara yugam) the nOnbu and those who pretended to perform (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a>) the nOnbu.<\/p>\n<p>Is it possible for us to get same benefit as them, by reciting <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruppAvai<\/a> (while immersed in its meanings)? A reply is provided as follows:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/11\/parasara-bhattar\/\">bhattar<\/a> says that like how a mother cow would give milk out of love by looking at just the skin of its dead calf shaped with the filling of straws, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAtti and perumAn<\/a> out of kindness would give same katAksham to us, which they gave to those gOpikAs and to those who pretended in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruppAvai<\/a>.\u00a0 Young cow -&gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>; lively calf -&gt; gOpikAs, and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a>; and the one filled with straws -&gt; we are.<\/p>\n<p><em>In the previous 29 pAsurams <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a> pretended to be one of the gOpikAs in thiruvAyppAdi, and followed the ways of them (anukAram &#8211; enacting) for reaching krishNan. gOpikAs having beautiful face like the moon, and wearing rich glittering ornaments<br \/>\nchenRu &#8211; reached<br \/>\niRainji &#8211; prayed\/prostrated<br \/>\nmAdhavanai &#8211; sriya:pathi (thAyAr&#8217;s husband)<br \/>\nkEsavanai &#8211; kaNNan<br \/>\nkadaindha &#8211; who churned (for dhEvas)<br \/>\nvangam kadal &#8211; the thiruppArkadal with ships in them\u00a0 (milky ocean),<br \/>\nangu &#8211; in thiruvAippAdi<br \/>\nap paRai koNda ARRai &#8211; and about the way in which they got the (their) well known goal (purushArththam),\u00a0 (as explained by)<br \/>\npai kamalam thaN theriyal pattarpirAn &#8211; (the daughter of) <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/20\/periyazhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">periyAzhwar<\/a> with freshly blossomed lotus flowers,<br \/>\nkOdhai &#8211; (who is) <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a><br \/>\naNi pudhuvai &#8211; (who) rose in the lovely place of srIvillipuththUr<br \/>\nsonna &#8211; (aruLich cheidha) and gifted<br \/>\nsangam thamizh mAlai muppadhum &#8211; these thirty pAsurams, which are to be immersed in by groups of groups<br \/>\nthappAmE &#8211; without fail;<br \/>\nuraippAr &#8211; those who recite<br \/>\ningu &#8211; in this world<br \/>\nipparisu\u00a0 &#8211; in this way,<br \/>\nthiru aruL peRRu &#8211; would get the blessings of<br \/>\nIr iraNdu mAl varai thOL &#8211; one having four big mountain-like shoulders<br \/>\nselvam &#8211; one having all the wealth<br \/>\nthirumAlAl &#8211; (that is) <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a> who is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">srImAn<\/a><br \/>\nengum &#8211; and everywhere (in all the worlds)<br \/>\ninbuRuvar &#8211; (they would) be joyous.<\/p>\n<h3>Simple Translation<\/h3>\n<p><strong>vangak kadal kadaindha mAdhavanai<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When churning the ocean in earlier avathAram he cleverly did that without shaking any boats; he himself was like a boat; when he rotated while churning, he covered the whole ocean; or when he churned, the whole ocean was pulling all the boats\/ships around and the whole ocean was full of it.<\/p>\n<p>Are there boats\/ships in thiruppARkadal? It is only to show the equivalence of the salty ocean near us with that ocean; it is to say how well he churned that ocean.<\/p>\n<p>He was helping dhEvas who wanted the lowly amudham (nectar), with his body aching from the churning; they put the great <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> through this for their vishayAntharam (interest in other matters).<\/p>\n<p>Aren&#8217;t these gOpikAs about singing krishNan? Would it match for them to sing about the one who churned the ocean?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> had a different agenda when churning the ocean; from the ocean not only did the nectar come out; it also brought out his dear <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">periya pirAtti<\/a> \u2013 he churned it only for getting her, but used as front getting nectar for dhEvas (clue: why did he keep churning even after nectar came out?).<\/p>\n<p>==&gt; So these gOpikAs are saying that this is nothing new to him. Like how he used churning of ocean as the front for getting pirAtti, krishNan is born here and churned <em>curd<\/em> to get these <em>gOpikAs<\/em>.\u00a0 Similarly, He used the elders&#8217; nOnbu request as the front for getting what he really wanted <strong>&#8211;<\/strong> all these innocent gOpikAs. So she sings <em>kadal kadaindha mAdhavanai&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[[ kadal kadaindha: vEdhas are like ocean; upanishadhs too; meanings in <a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2013\/02\/dhivya-prabhandha-pramanya-samarthanam-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a> are like an ocean; AchAryan churns these oceans and brings out beautiful meanings;<\/p>\n<p>vanga: <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a>; so AchAryan shows us <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> by churning the ocean of vEdhas, upanishadhs, and <a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2013\/02\/dhivya-prabhandha-pramanya-samarthanam-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>]]<\/p>\n<p>mAdhavanai \u2013 Husband of pirAtti. What is available for us to surrender to, and to enjoy too, is available with pirAtti; he is near the one who will make Him forgive us, our mistakes, and make Him realize His greatness to accept us.<\/p>\n<p>We feel confident when pirAtti is there to support us.<\/p>\n<p>kadal kadaindha mAdhavanai \u2013 one who churned the ocean and got pirAtti from that.<\/p>\n<p>[ mA-thavan &#8211; AchAryan, who has the great thapas of having <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> in his noble heart;\u00a0 it refers to gyAnam as well; <em>gyAnam anuttAnam ivai nanRAgavE udaiyanAna kuruvai adaindhakkAl<\/em>&#8230; said <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/23\/azhagiya-manavala-mamunigal\/\">maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/a> in upadhEsa rathinamAlai.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>kEsavanai \u2013 <\/strong>who gets rid of whatever is not good for his devotees; he who made us get rid of our thinking that we are girls who should not get out of our house (to see krishNan); he who makes all of us get rid of anyasEshathvam (sEshathvam (servitude) for something other than naRAyaNan).<\/p>\n<p>kEsavanai &#8211; one with beautiful hair;\u00a0 one who troubles the enemies of his adiyAr; one who killed the asuran kEsi;<\/p>\n<p>kadal kadaindha kEsavan &#8211; When <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> was churning the ocean, his hair was waving in the air and it was such a beautiful divine sight. <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a> feels terrible that dhEvas were focusing on the lowly nectar and missed what was really really important &#8211; seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a>&#8216;s divine face and his hair and enjoying that, and forgetting other things. To feel better now, she sings, kEsavanai&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2012\/11\/archavathara-anubhavam-bhattar-anubhavam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bhattar<\/a> says: He ate the actual nectar (pirAtti) from churning ocean (mAdhavan), and gave the residue (<em>\u0b9a\u0b95\u0bcd\u0b95\u0bc8 \/ chakkai<\/em> ) to those dhEvas.<\/p>\n<p>mAdhavanaik kEsavanai &#8211; you got pirAtti, and you were kind to those who needed your help (dhEvas).<\/p>\n<p>mAdhavanaik kEsavanai &#8211; you are mAdhavan (pirAtti married you), because you are kEsavan (have got beautiful hair).<\/p>\n<p>kEsavanai &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a> referred to His thiruvadi in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=289\">2nd pAsuram &#8211; &#8216;<em>paraman adi pAdi<\/em>&#8216;<\/a> and in this last pAsuram is singing about his head, thus singing from His thiruvadi (lotus feet) to thiru<em>mudi <\/em>(lotus head).<\/p>\n<p>{ srIvaishNavas always start mangaLAsAsanam to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> starting from thiruvadi, and going up to thirumudi, when in temple, etc. }<\/p>\n<p>[ kEsavan &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> who killed the horse asuran kEsi.\u00a0 In bhagavath gIthai <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a> said that our indhriyas (senses) are like horses; AchAryan helps us control our indhriyas, so kEsavan as well refers to AchAryan. ]<\/p>\n<p>Now <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL<\/a> talks about the adiyArs who want <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perumAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thingaL thirumugaththu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like a pleasant moon, gOpikAs&#8217; faces have blossomed due to joining krishNan,<\/p>\n<p>His \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>&#8216;<\/strong>kadhir<strong>&#8216;<\/strong> <strong>&#8216;<\/strong>madhi<strong>&#8216;<\/strong>yam pOl mugam<\/em><\/a> \u2013 because he sees both puNyams and pApams of ours, his face is like sun and moon.<\/p>\n<p>gOpikAs&#8217; faces \u2013 just nice like the moon. That is because they are with their krishNan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>==&gt;<\/strong> Everyone who enjoys Him will have such a nice and happy face. So happy that others would wonder where they have come from.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> sang, those who enjoy him in srIvaikuNtam are too &#8216;<em>madhi muga madandhaiyar \/ \u0bae\u0ba4\u0bbf\u0bae\u0bc1\u0b95 \u0bae\u0b9f\u0ba8\u0bcd\u0ba4\u0bc8\u0baf\u0bb0\u0bcd&#8217;<\/em>! (thruvAimozhi 10-9-10 \/ \u0ba4\u0bbf\u0bb0\u0bc1\u0bb5\u0bbe\u0baf\u0bcd\u0bae\u0bca\u0bb4\u0bbf 10-9-10).\u00a0 (women with beautiful faces like the moon).<\/p>\n<p><strong>chEi izhaiyAr<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They had asked for <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>&#8216;chUdagamE<\/em><\/a>&#8216; (27), etc., ornaments, now they are here wearing all the ornaments put on them by Him, while being together with krishNan.<\/p>\n<p>They have got the ornaments that are krishNan&#8217;s fondness and his katAksham. Because of this they got the briskness and looks like wearing one container <em>(\u0b92\u0bb0\u0bc1 \u0baa\u0b9f\u0bbf)<\/em> full of ornaments.<\/p>\n<p>[ thingaL thiru mugaththu sEi izhaiyAr &#8211; we sishyas are too; moon does not have its own light. We sishyas get gyAnam from AchAryan.\u00a0 Moon is called &#8216;madhi&#8217;, which also means &#8216;gyAnam&#8217;. With our AchAryan&#8217;s katAksham we would be filled with gyAnam.\u00a0 Our AchAryan puts the ornaments on us which are Athma guNams.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>chenRu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>gOpikAs went to him, without being able to do all these decorations with the ornaments.<\/p>\n<p>[chenRu &#8211; we sishyas <em>go<\/em> to our AchAryan ]<\/p>\n<p><strong>iRainji<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They did &#8216;<em>thU malar thUvi thOzhudhu, vAyinAl pAdi, manaththinAl sindhiththu, anRu ivvulagam aLandhAnai adi pORRi, sEnRu sEviththu<\/em>, and all that mangaLAsAsanam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>angu &#8211; <\/strong>In thiruvAyppAdi<\/p>\n<p><strong>ap paRai koNda ARRai \u2013 <\/strong>the way they used &#8216;paRai&#8217; instrument for elders as the front, and surrendered and did kainkaryam to krishNan;<\/p>\n<p>koNda &#8211;
