But he had already prayed for kainkaryam in the first chUrNai (<em>nithya kinkarO bhavAni<\/em>). In the second chUrNai, in order to get that kainkaryam, he had surrendered to him (<em>SaraNam aham prapadhyE<\/em>). Why then pray for kainkaryam yet again? He feels that he has nothing in his hand and what he has asked for is so humongous. However, he has deep faith (<em>mahAviSvAsam<\/em>) in <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> that he would grant him his wish. Keeping that deep faith in him, he prays for kainkaryam since he has merely mentioned that he has surrendered to bhagavAn (without knowing its full meaning). First the chUrNai:<\/p>\n<p><em>Evam avasthithsayApi arthithva mAthrENa parama kAruNikO<\/em><br \/>\n<em> bhagavAn svAnubhava prIthyA upanItha &#8211; aikAnthikAthyanthika nithya<\/em><br \/>\n<em> kainkaryaikarathirUpa nithyadhAsyam dhAsyathIthi viSvAsa<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pUrvakam bhagavantham nithya kinkarathAm prArthayE<\/em> II<\/p>\n<h3>Word-by-Word meaning<\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>Evam<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 thus<br \/>\n<strong><em>avasthithasyApi<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 even if obeying or following<br \/>\n<strong><em>arthithva<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 having prayed for<br \/>\n<strong><em>mAthrENa<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 only<br \/>\n<strong><em>parama<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 very highly<br \/>\n<strong><em>kAruNikO<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 with mercy<br \/>\n<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 lord<br \/>\n<strong><em>sva<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 self<br \/>\n<strong><em>anubhava<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 experience<br \/>\n<strong><em>prIthi<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 love<br \/>\n<strong><em>upanItha<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 initiated<br \/>\n<strong><em>aikAnthika<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 of one end<br \/>\n<strong><em>Athyanthika<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 without an end<br \/>\n<strong><em>nithya<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 permanent<br \/>\n<strong><em>kainkarya<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 service<br \/>\n<strong><em>rathi<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 affection<br \/>\n<strong><em>rUpa<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 form<br \/>\n<strong><em>nithya<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 forever<br \/>\n<strong><em>dhAsyam<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 servitude<br \/>\n<strong><em>dhAsyathIthi<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 to grant<br \/>\n<strong><em>viSvAsa<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 strong belief<br \/>\n<strong><em>pUrvakam<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 as prelude<br \/>\n<strong>bhagavantham<\/strong> \u2013 to bhagavAn<br \/>\n<strong>nithya kinkarathAm<\/strong> \u2013 permanent kainkaryam<br \/>\n<strong>prArthayE<\/strong> \u2013 pray for<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Explanatory Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Evam avasthithasyApi<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Evam<\/em> &#8211; thus; <em>avasthithasyApi<\/em> &#8211; even if obeying or following. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">SrI rAmAnuja<\/a> says that he has merely mentioned that he has surrendered, without knowing the deeper meanings of the action. Even for such a person&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>arthithva mAthrENa<\/strong> &#8211; <em>arththva<\/em> &#8211; having prayed for; <em>mAthrENa<\/em> &#8211; only. SrI rAmAnuja further says that he has yet not overcome desires in those which are hurdles in reaching <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> (here the reference is to the five sensory perceptions) and he does not have the strong urge in carrying out kainkaryam to bhagavAn. But he merely has desire for kainkaryam and prays for it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>parama kAruNikO bhagavAn<\/strong> &#8211; <em>parama<\/em> &#8211; very highly; <em>kAruNikO<\/em> &#8211; with mercy; <em><a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> <\/em>&#8211; lord. bhagavAn looks at the mundane (worldly) sufferings of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">SrI rAmAnuja<\/a>.\u00a0Not only does he have mercy towards his <em>ASrithars<\/em> (followers), he also has the <em>gyAna, Sakthi<\/em> etc (knowledge, strength etc) to remove the sadness in his <em>ASrithars<\/em>. Since he has <em>parama karuNai<\/em> (he is full of mercy) and he is bhagavAn (having <em>gyAna, bala, aiSvarya, vIrya, Sakthi, thEjas<\/em>) he has all the qualities to provide succour to the suffering <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jIvAthmA<\/a>. Hence SrI rAmAnuja prays to him for &#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>svAnubhava prIthyOpanItha aikAnthika A<\/strong><strong>thyanthika nithya kainkarya rathi rUpa<\/strong> &#8211; <em>sva<\/em> &#8211; self; <em>anubhava<\/em> &#8211; experience; <em>prIthi<\/em> &#8211; love; <em>upanItha<\/em> &#8211; initiated ; <em>aikAnthika<\/em> &#8211; of one end ; <em>Athyanthika<\/em> &#8211; without an end; <em>nithya<\/em> &#8211; permanent; <em>kainkarya<\/em> &#8211; service; <em>rathi<\/em> &#8211; affection; <em>rUpa<\/em> &#8211; form. \u00a0SrI rAmAnuja prays for a unique form. What is this form? With the love that has been initiated in him after experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>, he wants that love to propel him into carrying out highly focused, endless, permanent kainkaryam. This love should take a form of desire to do kainkaryam and he wants that desire to be his form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>nithya dhAsyam dhAsyathIthi<\/strong> &#8211; <em>nithya<\/em> &#8211; forever; <em>dhAsyam<\/em> &#8211; servitude; <em>dhAsyathIthi<\/em> &#8211; to grant. He prays to bhagavAn to grant him kainkaryam till his <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> lasts (i.e. for ever).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>viSvAsa pUrvakam<\/strong> &#8211; <em>viSvAsa<\/em> &#8211; strong belief; <em>pUrvakam<\/em> &#8211; as prelude. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">SrI rAmAnuja<\/a> affirms that he has very strong belief in bhagavAn, and with that belief as prelude, he is praying for&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>bhagavantham nithya kinkarathAm prArththayE<\/strong> &#8211; bhagavantham &#8211; to bhagavAn; nithya kinkarathAm &#8211; permanent kainkaryam; prArthayE &#8211; pray for. SrI rAmAnuja affirms his belief in bhagavAn and prays to him to grant him permanent kainkaryam. He is calling him bhagavAn because he has all the qualities required of bhagavAn (gyAna, bala, aiSvarya, vIrya, Sakthi, thEjas) and since he is bhagavAn, he can grant him his wish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That brings us to the end of the third chUrNai.
