Unlike a father who starts wishing and doing good for the child after the child is born, the mother starts protecting and loving the child right from the time that the child is conceived in her womb. Hence precedence is given to the mother.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> is also the father as it is the father who is equally responsible for the formation of the child. In our <em>sampradhAyam<\/em> (traditional beliefs), the entire creation is carried out by <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> and not by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">pirAtti<\/a>, and hence <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> acts both as mother and father.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>thvamEva bandhuScha<\/strong> &#8211; you are like relatives. Relatives are those who ensure that the person does not go the wrong way in life, control him and guide him in the correct path. <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> is also the <em>antharAthmA<\/em> (pervading within the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a>). Thus he guides the person always and acts similar to the relatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>gurusthvamEva<\/strong> &#8211; you are like <em>AchArya<\/em> (teacher). The sound &#8220;gu&#8221; in <em>guru<\/em> means &#8216;darkness&#8217; and the sound &#8220;ru&#8221; means &#8216;negates&#8217;. Thus a guru negates darkness &#8211; in other words he enlightens. <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> removes ignorance in this <em>samsAram<\/em> (materialistic world) and grants <em>mOksham<\/em> (liberation) and hence he is the <em>guru<\/em>. \u00a0In our <em>sampradhAyam<\/em>, he is the first and primary\u00a0<em>AchAryan,\u00a0<\/em>as mentioned in our <em>guruparamparai<\/em>\u00a0(lineage of <em>AchAryas<\/em>). He provides all the implements and aids for us to get interested in reaching him &#8211; he gave <em>vEdhas<\/em> (fountainhead of knowledge, divided into <em>rig, yajur, sAma and atharva<\/em>), <em>SAsthra<\/em> (religious treatise),\u00a0<em>purANa\u00a0<\/em>(ancient literature such as vishNu purANam, gAruda purAnam etc), <em>ithihAsa<\/em> (epics such as <em>SrI rAmAyaNam<\/em> and <em>mahAbhAratham<\/em>), created AzhwArs and AchAryas to explain what he had told or done in <em>vEdha<\/em>, <em>SAsthra<\/em>,\u00a0<em>purANa<\/em> and <em>ithihAsa<\/em>, showed his exalted <em>thirumEni<\/em> (physical form as seen in <em>archA mUrthi<\/em>, as evidenced in various <a href=\"https:\/\/koyil.org\/\">dhivyadhEsams<\/a>) &#8211; \u00a0he does all these things so that we move away from the worldly pleasures in this <em>samsAram<\/em> and take the initial steps towards him . As seen earlier, he does not create desire in us for us to reach him, but develops the desire once we show the initial spark. He is indeed a great teacher, <em>guru<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>thvamEva vidhyA<\/strong> &#8211; you are the knowledge preached to us. How can he be &#8220;knowledge&#8221;? He provides the <em>vEdhas<\/em> which provide knowledge. Since various parts of <em>vEdhas<\/em> and <em>vEdhAnthas<\/em> (<em>upanidhaths<\/em>, the end part of vEdhas) are under his control and he is the entity explained or propounded in these, he is indeed the knowledge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>dhraviNam thvamEva<\/strong> &#8211; you are the wealth. Here wealth does not indicate only monetary wealth but all the entities which are enjoyed &#8211; for example, garland, sandal paste, food stuff, property etc. Not only the perceptible entities, but even the imperceptible entities such as <em>parabhakthi<\/em>, <em>paragyAnam<\/em> etc (which we had seen in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/12\/saranagathi-gadhyam-5-part-5\/\">chUrNai 5<\/a>) are called as wealth. His exalted feet are the path for us to reach him and these are considered wealth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>thvamEva sarvam<\/strong> &#8211; whatever has been left unsaid is also you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>mama dhEva dhEva<\/strong> &#8211; Having given up everything to hold on to you, you are my lord and master.
