It is said too that \u2018<em>Sarvam ashtAksharAnthassadham<\/em> [hArItha smruthi \u2013 3.45]\u2019 (everything is present in this thirumanthram that is of eight letters) \u2013 such is the greatness of thirumanthram.<\/p>\n<p>As the etymology\/origin for the word manthram is \u2018<em>manthrAram thrAya ithi manthra:<\/em>\u2019 (since it protects the one that deliberates on it, it is called manthram), thirumanthram uplifts from samsAram (life in the material world) those who inquire\/deliberate on it. This is as divined in the divine saying (<em>aruLichcheydhu aruLi<\/em>) of \u2018<em>samsAra nivarththakamAna periya thirumanthram<\/em> [SrI vachana bhUshaNam 315]\u2019. The same is said in \u2018<em>sathyassamsAra nAsanam<\/em>\u2019 (samsAram is destroyed immediately).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>maththimamAm padham pOl<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Like the middle word which is present in it (thirumanthram) that is namas. That word (nama:) removes the hurdles regarding: svarUpam (true nature of self), upAyam (means), and purushArththam (goal), and tells us about what is svarUpam, upAyam, and purusArththam; also, as said in \u2018<em>sidhdhE thadheeya sEshathvE sarvArththAs sambhavanthi hi<\/em>\u2019 (by being servants of devotees all good are created isn\u2019t it?), this manthram includes servitude to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s devotees. It is the meaning of this word that is according to our true nature.<\/p>\n<p>This (<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a>) is also like this word (nama:) of thirumanthram.<\/p>\n<p>Along the same lines, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a> too, as said in \u2018<em>thadhiyAnAm akrEsara:<\/em>\u2019 (is foremost among devotees) in relation to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> (who is such a devotee), had divined about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> as being the head, protector, true destiny, etc., in his prabandham that is <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>seerththa madhurakavi sey kalaiyai<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 commendable prabandham <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu<\/a> of this <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AzhvAr<\/a>, which he said as \u2018<em>madhurakavi sonna sol<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/02\/kanninun-chiruth-thambu-11-anban-thannai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu \u2013 11<\/a>]\u2019 (~ words said by madhurakavi), <strong><em>sErviththAr<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 placed such prabandham (to be in the middle).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>seerththa madhurakavi &#8211; <\/em><\/strong> also says about him having the honor of not knowing any other master.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>seerththa sey kalaiyai &#8211; <\/em> <\/strong>More than <em>prathama parvam<\/em> related (first state, i.e.,subservient to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>), it is charama parvam related (last state, that is, subservient to AchAryan\/devotee); such <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> would be having much greatness isn\u2019t it?\u00a0\u00a0 This <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> includes the greatness of holding the inner meaning of vEdhas as said in \u2018<em>mikka vEdhiyar vEdhaththin uL poruL <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/02\/kanninun-chiru-thambu-8-arul-kondadum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu &#8211; 8<\/a>]\u2019 (inner meanings of vEdham recited by the learned vaidhikas). This <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> has got the greatness of \u2018<em>avar pAsuram koNdu ivvarththam aRudhi idak kadavOm <\/em>[SrI vachana bhUshaNam \u2013 409]\u2019 (shall show the meaning (of <em>charama parvam) <\/em>using the prabandham of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Also, to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nammAzhvAr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/22\/nathamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SrI nAthamunigaL<\/a> had repeated this <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> 12000 times, and due to that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nammAzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s mind was soothed, and so all the <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a> became available, isn\u2019t it? It is the greatness of this <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> that that is attributed due to this too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/thiruppuLiyAzhwAr.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6101\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6101\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/thiruppuLiyAzhwAr.jpg\" alt=\"thiruppuLiyAzhwAr\" width=\"467\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/thiruppuLiyAzhwAr.jpg 800w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/thiruppuLiyAzhwAr-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/thiruppuLiyAzhwAr-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><\/a><em>thiruppuLi AzhvAr where nAthamunigaL recited kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu 12000 times<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In this way this <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> which is having the greatness of conveying the inner meaning, that is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s prabandham of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu<\/a>, they included this in the middle of beautiful <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Arththa pugazh AriyargaL thAngaL<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/17\/introduction-contd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AchAryas<\/a> who follow the way of preceptors, determined the ways of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a> (being dependent on AchAryan), and they have the glory that came due to researching the meanings of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Arththa pugazh<\/em> <\/strong>is \u2018<em>Arndha pugazh\u2019 <\/em>similar to what is said in \u2018<em>Arndha pugazh achchuthan <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> &#8211; like how when constructing a garland one would set a central gem store in the middle, due to which the whole garland would brighten up\/become meaningful, they included <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinuN chiruththAmbu<\/a> in the middle of other <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a> such that those <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a> became meaningful\/useful.<\/p>\n<p>This is like how the \u2018<em>nama:<\/em>\u2019 word in the middle brightens up the manthram, this <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> being in the middle brightens up the <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Like how this <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s star day of incarnation, that is chiththirai month\u2019s chiththirai star day is in the middle of thamizh months and is being bright among other months<strong>, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a> \u2018s prabandham of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kaNNinun chiruththAmbu<\/a> is in the middle of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a><\/p>\n<p>and would enrich those other <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<p>When considering this <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandham<\/a> as equivalent to the middle word \u2018<em>nama:<\/em>\u2019 of thirumanthram, then it would be possible to think of all the <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a> placed before this as giving the meaning of the word prior to <em>nama: <\/em> in thirumanthram <em>(praNavam)<\/em>, and\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prabandhams<\/a> placed after this as giving the meaning of the word after <em>nama: <\/em>(that is, nArAyaNa).<\/p>\n<p>To explain that, <em>\u2018vEdhaththukku Om ennum adhu pOl<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/12\/upadhesa-raththina-malai-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upadhEsa raththina mAlai &#8211;
