What sin have I committed (says she, in disgust)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My son, krishNa, has a divine form like a bluish gemstone and is enjoyable for me. Instead of allowing him to play with girls who are complete with their beauty and who have the best waist-cords in the world, embedded with nine gems, and roaming around, with his beautiful form wallowing in dirt, every day, why did I send him behind calves in the forest paths, with mountains echoing sounds raised by krishNa calling calves as well as of calves calling him back? How sad! What sin have I committed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nanmaNi \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; with girls who were having a waist cord, embedded with faultless gems, and who were having qualities appropriate for their clan, krishNa would play every day, instead of one or two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that the girls were wearing waist-cords which were beautiful and auspicious; they also had qualities, in line with their clan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pon \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; while playing with them, as well as having dispute with them, krishNa\u2019s divine form, which was like a beautiful bluish gemstone, would be full of dirt. Instead of allowing him to have dirt on his divine form and roaming around\u2026 More than seeing his divine form after giving him a bath and making him to roam around various houses [as we had seen in the first pAsuram of this thirumozhi], it was in seeing his divine body wallowing in dirt that yaSOdhAp pirAtti seems to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that just as it has been mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/06\/thirunedunthandakam-1\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"44757\">thirunedundhANdagam 1<\/a> \u201c<em>ponnuruvAy maNi uruvil bhUdham aindhAy<\/em>\u201d (having the nature of gold [brightness, desirable etc], in the form having the nature of gemstone, and being composed of five primary elements), periyAzhwAr mercifully describes emperumAn\u2019s divine form as <em>ponmaNi mEni<\/em>, like a bluish gemstone. He further days that the term <em>nAL thoRum<\/em> refers to a time equivalent to thousand deluges for periyAzhwAr when he has to wait to see krishNa returning home, after playing with the girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kanmaNi \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Just as it has been mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2021\/10\/periya-thirumozhi-2-5-3\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"44915\">periya thirumozhi 2.5.3<\/a> \u201c<em>kanRu mEyththu viLaiyAda vallAnai varaimI kANil<\/em>\u201d (krishNa incarnated to tend to calves and play with them in forests, atop hills), since he was grazing calves atop hills inside forests, he would call out to them with sounds. They too would respond to his calls, making sounds. These sounds would create echo in the hills, just like sounds from a bell. In such paths inside forest\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the hills in the forest were without bushes and trees. As a result, they were capable of raising an echo for every sound made by krishNa, when he was calling out to the calves or the sounds made by the calves, when they were responding to his calls. Alternatively, the sounds of bells tied to krishNa\u2019s waist cords made sounds which were echoed by the hills there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kanRin pin en maNi vaNNanaip pOkkinEn<\/strong> \u2013 calves are such tender entities that they will run in fright if they see anything unusual. I allowed krishNa, who has a form like a bluish gemstone and who is enjoyable for me, behind those calves. How sad!
