This pAsuram describes that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>pOdhar kaNdAy ingE pOdhar kaNdAy pOdharEn ennAdhE pOdhar kaNdAy<br>EdhEnum solli asalagaththAr EdhEnum pEsa nAn kEtka mAttEn<br>kOdhu kulam udaik kuttanEyO! kunRam eduththAy! kudamAdu kUththA!<br>vEdhap poruLE! en vEngadavA! viththaganEI ingE pOdharAyE<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>kOdhu kulam udai<\/em> \u2013 having auspicious qualities which are celebrated by everyone<br><em>O kuttanE<\/em> \u2013 come, my dear son!<br><em>kunRu<\/em> \u2013 gOvardhana hill<br><em>eduththAy<\/em> \u2013 oh, one who lifted as an umbrella!<br><em>kudam Adu<\/em> \u2013 lifting pots<br><em>kUththA<\/em> \u2013 Oh, one dances!<br><em>vEdham<\/em> \u2013 for all vEdhams<br><em>poruLE<\/em> \u2013 Oh, one who is expounded!<br><em>en<\/em> \u2013 apt to be considered as mine<br><em>vEngadavA<\/em> \u2013 Oh, one who is standing on the hills of thirumalai!<br><em>viththaganE<\/em> \u2013 Oh, one who has amazing powers!<br><em>ingE<\/em> \u2013 (leaving that place) here<br><em>pOdhar kaNdAy pOdhar kaNdAy<\/em> \u2013 Come fast (the word <em>pOdharu<\/em> has got shortened as <em>pOdhar<\/em> here)<br><em>pOdharEn ennAdhE<\/em> \u2013 without saying that I will not come<br><em>pOdhar kaNdAy <\/em>\u2013 come<br><em>asal agaththAr<\/em> \u2013 people in the neighbourhood<br><em>EdhEnum<\/em> \u2013 faults about you, which cannot be spoken of<br><em>solli<\/em> \u2013 to speak, amongst themselves<br><em>EdhEnum<\/em> \u2013 words which I cannot hear or which I cannot speak<br><em>pEsa<\/em> \u2013 to speak<br><em>nAn<\/em> \u2013 I, who am your mother<br><em>kEtka mAttEn<\/em> &#8211;  will not tolerate to hear<br>(Hence)<br><em>ingE pOdharAy<\/em> \u2013 come here (yaSOdhAp pirAtti calls krishNa, saying this)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, one who has auspicious qualities which are celebrated by everyone, come! Oh, one who lifted the gOvardhana hills as an umbrella! Oh, one who danced with pots! Oh, one who is expounded by vEdhams! Oh, one who is apt to be called as mine, standing on the hills of thirumalai! Oh, one who has amazing powers! You should come here. Do not say that you would not come. I, your mother, cannot hear and tolerate words of people in the neighbourhood, who speak about your faults. Hence, come here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pOdhar kaNdAy ingE<\/strong>\u2013 Do not carry out mischiefs, standing there. Come here. The word <em>pOdharu<\/em> has got shortned as <em>pOdhar<\/em> here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that leaving that place [where people complain about you] and coming here is the apt activity for you. While I repeatedly call out to you to come, instead of repeatedly negating it saying that you would not come, you should come here. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says that the word <em>pOgal<\/em> has got transformed to <em>pOdhar<\/em>. The word <em>kaNdAy<\/em> is a word-filler used and does not have any meaning. It could also be construed as \u201cYou see, they are talking despicably about you\u201d, in which case it has a meaning on its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pOdhar kaNdAy<\/strong> \u2013 since krishNa did not come when yaSOdhAp pirAtti called out to him the first time, she calls out to him a second time. Despite this, since he did not come \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pOdharEn ennnAdhE pOdhar kaNdAy<\/strong> \u2013 Do not say \u201cI will not come\u201d. She tells him to come and see. When he asks her \u201cFor what purpose are you calling me?\u201d she says \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EdhEnum solli asalagaththAr EdhEnum pEsa nAn kEtka mAttEn<\/strong> \u2013 people in the neighbourhood would discuss amongst themselves about your faults, which could not even be mentioned through words, and then would come to me and tell me, which I cannot hear or speak about and which I cannot tolerate to hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that those people, apart from discussing amongst themselves, come to me and tell me \u201cHe is a thief\u201d, words which are not proper for this clan and which I cannot tolerate,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kOdhu kulam udaiya kuttanE! O O<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cYou are one, celebrated by everyone with your qualities. How could you be spoken of like this by everyone?\u201d yaSOdhAp pirAtti feels saddened due to this. Due to that sorrow, she calls out \u201cO O\u201d [Alas!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here \u2013 \u201cOh, one who came as the son for the faultless clan!\u201d The term <em>O<\/em> refers to excessive sorrow, felt by yaSOdhAp pirAtti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kunRu eduththAy<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who protected the cows and the herd-people by lifting the gOvardhana hills!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kudamAdu kUththA<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who danced with pots as an outlet for the pride of having opulence, due to cows! The term <em>kudamAdu kUththan<\/em> refers to <em>kudam eduththu Adina kUththai udaiyavan<\/em> \u2013 one who performed dance by carrying the pots and dancing with them. Through these two features [lifting the gOvardhana hill and dancing with pots], don\u2019t you think that you are the protector for this clan and the opulence which came as a result of being born in this clan is your wealth?
