A lady from one of those houses came to yaSOdhAp pirAtti and complained to her, saying \u201cCall your son and keep him with you\u201d. This pAsuram mentions this narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>pAlaik kaRandhu aduppERa vaiththup pal vaLaiyAL en magaL iruppa<\/em><br><em>mElai agaththE neruppu vENdich chenRu iRaip pozhudhu angE pEsi ninREn<\/em><br><em>sALakkirAmam udaiya nambi sAyththup parugittup pOndhu ninRAn<\/em><br><em>Alaik karumbin mozhi anaiya asOdhai nangAy<\/em>! <em>un maganaik kUvAy<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Alai<\/em> \u2013 apt to be put in the mill<br><em>karumbu anaiya<\/em> \u2013 matching sugar cane<br><em>in<\/em> \u2013 sweet<br><em>mozhi <\/em>\u2013 one who has speech<br><em>asOdhai nangAy<\/em>! \u2013 Oh, yaSOdhAp pirAtti who has completeness of femininity!<br><em>pal vaLaiyAL<\/em> \u2013 donning many bangles<br><em>en magaL<\/em> \u2013 my daughter<br><em>pAlaik kaRandhu<\/em> \u2013 milking cow\u2019s milk<br><em>aduppu<\/em> \u2013 on top of the fire-place<br><em>ERa vaiththu<\/em> \u2013 keeping in a large pot<br><em>iruppa<\/em> \u2013 as she stood as guard<br><em>mElai agaththu<\/em> \u2013 in a house to the western side of your house<br><em>neruppu vENdich chenRu<\/em> \u2013 to get fire [to set fire to that fire-place] to heat this milk<br><em>iRaip pozhudhu<\/em> \u2013 for a moment<br><em>angE<\/em> \u2013 in that house<br><em>pEsi ninREn<\/em> \u2013 I was conversing<br>(at that time)<br><em>sALakkirAmam<\/em> \u2013 SrI SALagrAmam<br><em>udaiya<\/em> \u2013 having as his residence<br><em>nambi<\/em> \u2013 one, who is without any shortcoming<br><em>sAyththu<\/em> \u2013 tilting that vessel<br><em>parugittu<\/em> \u2013 drinking the milk inside [that vessel]<br><em>pOndhu ninRAn<\/em> \u2013 came here, from that place<br>(Hence, to ensure that he does not carry out any further mischief in our house)<br><em>un maganai<\/em> \u2013 kaNNan, your son<br><em>kUvAy<\/em> \u2013 call out to him, to have him near you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, yaSOdhAp pirAtti who has words which are as sweet as the sugarcane which is apt to be fed into a mill [for making sugar]! My daughter, who wears many bangles, had milked the cow, kept that milk inside a pot, which she set on fire-place and stood guard over that milk. I went to the house, which is to the western side of your house, seeking fire, in order to set fire to that fire-place. I stood in that house, for a moment, speaking to the people there. Meanwhile, krishNa, who has SALagrAmam as his residence, and who is without any shortcoming, tilted the vessel, which contained milk, drank the entire milk and stood here, getting out of my place. To ensure that he does not carry out further mischief in my house, call out to your son and keep him by your side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pAlaik kaRandhu<\/strong> \u2013 milking all the cows, which are as mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2014\/12\/thiruppavai-03-ongi-ulagalandha\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"312\">thiruppAvai 3<\/a> \u201c<em>vAngak kudam niRaikkum vaLLal perum pasukkaL<\/em>\u201d (The cows in thiruvAyppAdi are such that they will keep on giving milk, even after several vessels have been filled with milk, during milking).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that the cows in thiruvAyppAdi were obedient like the royal elephant, Sathrunjayan [this is the name of the elephant used by dhaSarathan for his procession]. Milking such cows. The term <em>kaRandhu<\/em> [milking], refers to the effort required to complete the process of milking these cows. This work is similar to telling a person to empty out water from an ocean, using one\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>aduppERa vaiththu<\/strong> \u2013 keeping them in small and large containers in order to boil all that milk, by keeping them on top of the fire-place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the fire-place was that high and the milk was that heavy that one had to lift the vessels, containing milk, to keep them on top of the fire-places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pal vaLaiyAL en magaL iruppa<\/strong> \u2013 my daughter, who was wearing many bangles, stood guard over all the milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that krishNa entered the house, after seeing the bangles on the hands of her daughter and the containers of milk. Not aware of his entering my house, I had gone to the house in the western direction, seeking fire, and was talking to them for a short duration, recounting his mischievous activities. Using this [my absence from my house] as a prop, he entered my house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>mElai agaththE neruppu vENdich chenRu<\/strong> \u2013 I had gone to the house which is to the west of your house, in order to request for fire to light the fire-place in my house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>iRaip pozhudhu angE pEsi ninREn<\/strong> \u2013 I was talking to them for a few moments. Utilising this interval to his advantage \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>sALakkirAmam \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; [krishNa is] one who is complete with all qualities, residing forever in SrI SALagrAmam [a divine abode]. He tilted the vessels, which contained milk, drank milk from all the vessels, as if he were incomplete, and stood aside [here] as if he had nothing to do with whatever had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alaikkarumbu \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Oh, one who has the feature of talking sweetly, just like sugarcane which is apt to be churned in the mill [for extracting sugar] and who is complete with auspicious qualities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the words of yaSOdhAp pirAtti would be such sweet that it would engage even those who have come to complain about her son in her words, even when she is scolding krishNa.
