Come\u201d. But he ran away. Some people came and complained to her \u201cHe strew sand in the eyes\u201d. She says a few words, unable to tolerate their complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>kaNNil maNal kodu thUvik kAlinAl pAyndhanai enRu enRu<\/em><br><em>eNNarum piLLaigaL vandhittu ivarAl muRaippaduginRAr<\/em><br><em>kaNNanE<\/em>!<em> veLLaRai ninRAy<\/em>! <em>kaNdArOdE thImaigaL seyvAy<\/em>!<br><em>vaNNamE vElai adhu oppAy<\/em>! <em>vaLLalE<\/em>!<em> kAppida vArAy<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>kaNNanE<\/em> \u2013 oh, one who is easy to approach!<br><em>veLLaRai ninRAy<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who is standing in thiruveLLaRai and showering your grace!<br><em>kaNdArOdE<\/em> \u2013 with strangers<br><em>thImaigaL seyvAy<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who indulges in mischiefs!<br><em>vaNNam<\/em> \u2013 through colour (the syllable <em>E<\/em> in <em>vaNNamE<\/em> is for poetic metric; it does not have any meaning)<br><em>vElai adhu oppAy<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who is like an ocean [this refers to his matching the colour of ocean)<br><em>vaLLalE<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who is magnanimous!<br><em>eN arum<\/em> \u2013 countless<br><em>piLLaigaL<\/em> \u2013 girls (who engaged with you, due to your activities)<br><em>ivar<\/em> \u2013 these people (the syllable <em>Al<\/em> (as in <em>ivarAl<\/em>) is for poetic metric. It does not have any<br>meaning)<br><em>vandhittu<\/em> \u2013 coming in front of me<br><em>kaNNil<\/em> \u2013 \u201cin our eyes<br><em>maNal<\/em> \u2013 sand<br><em>kodu thUvi<\/em> \u2013 had strewn<br><em>kAlinAl<\/em> \u2013 with legs<br><em>pAyndhanai<\/em> \u2013 had kicked\u201d<br><em>enRu enRu<\/em> \u2013 saying separately, regarding you<br><em>muRaippaduginRAr<\/em> \u2013 they are complaining (Hence, instead of going to them hereafter, come to me so that I could carry out <em>kAppu<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, one who is standing in thiruveLLaRai and showering your mercy! You are indulging in mischiefs with strangers. Oh, one who matches ocean in the divine complexion! Oh, one who is magnanimous! Countless girls are coming in front of me and are complaining to me about you, individually, saying \u201cYou had strewn sand in our eyes and kicked us with your feet\u201d. Hereafter, do not go to them. Come to me so that I could carry out <em>kAppu<\/em> for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNNil &#8230;<\/strong> &#8211; yaSOdhAp pirAtti tells krishNa that the mothers of countless girls, who were engaged with him, came and complained to her \u201cWhile we were playing with our eyes open, you had strewn sand in our eyes. When we asked you \u2018Why did you strew sand in our eyes?\u2019 you had kicked us\u201d. They complained individually, you could see that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that countless children, who were playing, came and complained to yaSOdhAp pirAtti \u201cYou had strewn sand in our eyes\u201d; \u201cYou had kicked us\u201d. Looking at them, yaSOdhAp pirAtti held krishNa tightly, and was angry looking at them, thinking <em>ivarAr muRaippaduginRAr<\/em> (Who are these people, complaining?) In other words, she was telling them \u2013 You are many; he is a single person. And, you people are complaining. Immediately, krishNa told her \u201cThey strew sand in my eyes; they kicked me\u201d. It was this which appeared to be true, to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNNanE veLLaRai ninRAy<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who is standing in thiruveLLaRai, being easily approachable for all, and showering your mercy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: yaSOdhAp pirAtti tells krishNa: \u201cDo not stand near them such that they could see you. Come here\u201d. Alternatively, \u201cYou are such an easy person to approach that you stood in a manner that they could carry out mischief towards you\u201d. <em>veLLaRai ninRAy<\/em> \u2013 your standing here is even easier to approach you than in thiruvAyppAdi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNdArOdE thImai seyvAy<\/strong> \u2013 Unlike those who have connection with you and are affectionate towards you, who would tolerate your mischiefs, oh, one who is carrying out mischiefs with strangers! You should see that you should not indulge in such mischiefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that krishNa is engaging in mischiefs with those who are unable to tolerate him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vaNNamE \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Oh, one matches the ocean through your divine complexion! <em>vaNNam<\/em> \u2013 complexion. The syllable <em>E<\/em> [as in <em>vaNNamE<\/em>] refers to emphasis. <em>vElai<\/em> \u2013 ocean. The term <em>adhu<\/em> [as in <em>vElai adhu oppAy<\/em>] refers to ocean only. Through this, it is indicated that even if he carries out mischiefs, he has such a beauty of his divine form that he could not be disregarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vaLLalE<\/strong>&#8211; Oh, one who gave that beauty of your divine form to me such that I could feel happy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, at the end, that samsAris, without realising their faults, are shifting the blame on emperumAn. For this, they say that emperumAn made them to indulge in worldly pursuits. The term <em>kaNNil maNal kodu thUvi<\/em> refers to hiding knowledge, which one gets through vEdham, by making those people to engage with sensory pursuits. Again, they indulge in the impure worldly pursuits on their own accord and try to attain emperumAn through other means. While they have this fault, they say that emperumAn kicked them into these, when they should have realised that it is emperumAn\u2019s divine feet which are the readily available means to attain him.
