You should come for taking a bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entering the barn where cattle are kept safely and from which they are released, you wallow in the dirt there. I would very much desire to see your golden, divine form [with that dirt]. However, those who see you, will ridicule me (saying \u201cWhat sort of a son has she sired and nurtured?\u201d) Oh, one who is without even a little bit of shame! If nappinnaip pirAtti were to see you like this, she will laugh at you derisively. Oh, one who is like a carbuncle for me! Oh, one who is like a gemstone for me! You should come for taking a bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pUNi \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; entering the barn where cattle are kept together [during night] and from where they are released for grazing [in the morning]. Since he belongs to the clan of herd-people, he would enter barn for playing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>puzhudhi aLaindha pon mEni<\/strong> \u2013 in line with his childish stage, he enters and plays inside the barn. Since the dirt enters his divine form fully, it appears similar to dirt settling on a golden article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kANap peridhum ugappan<\/strong> \u2013 I would very much desire to see your form getting dirtied like this, in line with your stage of being a child, more than a clean form after taking a bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agilum kaNdAr pazhippar<\/strong> \u2013 Even though I may desire to see you like this, those who see your dirtied form will ridicule me, saying \u201cLook at the manner in which she has given birth to and nurtured a son!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nAN iththanaiyum ilAdhAy<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who is without even a little bit of shame!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nappinnai kANil sirikkum<\/strong> \u2013 If nappinnai [who is your maternal uncle\u2019s daughter] were to see you with dirt all over your divine form, she will sneer at you, owing to your relationship with her. Shouldn\u2019t you feel shameful about her sneer, more than the ridicule of people of the village? The implied meaning is that he is without any sense of shame and hence remains that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that usage of the word <em>kANil<\/em> implies that yaSOdhAp pirAtti desires that he should come and have a bath before nappinnai looks at him. krishNa appears to say \u201cBut, that is the one [nappinnaip pirAtti looking at my dirty form] which I desire to see\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>mANikkamE en maNiyE<\/strong> \u2013 Since there is no material which could be cited as an equivalent for his divine form, she is looking for words, to cite as analogy, just like picking foodgrains from the ground. The opinion expressed here is that his divine form is similar to carbuncle and to emerald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that yaSOdhAp pirAtti initially says that he looks like carbuncle. However, since even that was not sufficient to describe his divine form, she calls him \u201c<em>en maNiyE<\/em>\u201d. Alternatively, she implies that she wishes to see him shine brightly like carbuncle and pearl, after taking a bath and ridding himself of all the dirt. <em>mANikkam<\/em> \u2013 dark carbuncle.
