Goodness for milk is that it is such rich that it will give plenty of ghee even with less quantity.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that it is not milk which has not been milked from cow. With effort, using my own hands, I have collected the good milk from cow.

thayirum – curd which has been set with that milk

kadaindhu uRi mEl vaiththa veNNey – churning such curd and keeping the butter, obtained from it, in pots, suspended from uRi [a network of ropes suspended from ceiling, for safe-keeping].

piRandhu … – Oh, my lord! From the day that you were born, I have not seen these materials.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that peRudhal (as in peRRaRiyEn) refers to the happiness that yaSOdhAp pirAtti would feel when kaNNan consumes milk offered by her [Since kaNNan would consume these materials by stealing, yaSOdhA laments that she did not get the happiness of offering the materials to him].

siRandha – People of the world would say “An affectionate mother is one who will hide the offences indulged in by her child. But she is blaming the child”. Thus, to prevent such words being said, even by forgetfulness, I will not let loose any such word.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the terms siRandha thAy and nal thAy refer to mothers of princes. nal thAy is the mother who has given birth to the prince and siRandha thAy is the foster mother who brings up the prince. If there is any shortcoming in the upbringing of the child, the two mothers could blame each other. However, in this case, yaSOdhAp pirAtti is common for both nal thAy and siRandha thAy. Due to her overflowing affection, she would not give kaNNan to anyone else for bringing up since it could lead to lessening of his splendour. Since she is both nal thAy and siRandha thAy, she would not blame him for anything.

For the term piRar in the verse piRar mun maRandhum uraiyAda mAttEn, thiruvAimozhip piLLai says the following: Apart from those who keep focussing on the offensive qualities and shortcoming in good qualities, there are people such as SiSupAlan who consider even eminent qualities of emperumAn as offences.

manjanam Ada nI vArAy – to make me, who is affectionate towards you, feel happy, you should come for a bath.

We shall next consider the 8th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.

adiyEn krishNa rAmAnuja dhAsan

archived in https://divyaprabandham.koyil.org

pramEyam (goal) – http://koyil.org
pramANam (scriptures) – http://granthams.koyil.org
pramAthA (preceptors) – http://acharyas.koyil.org
SrIvaishNava education/kids portal – http://pillai.koyil.org

SrI: SrImathE SatakOpAya nama: SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama: Sri varavaramunayE nama: periyAzhwAr thirumozhi >> Second Centum >> Fourth decad Previous avathArikai (Introduction) There is no specific avathArikai for this pAsuram. kaRandha naRpAlum thayirum kadaindhu uRI mEl vaiththa veNNeypiRandhadhuvE mudhalAgap peRRaRiyEn empirAnE!siRandha naRRAy alar thURRum enbadhanAl piRar munnEmaRandhum uraiyAda mAttEn manjanam Ada nI vAyAy Word-by-Word Meanings em pirAnE! – oh, … Read more

[10,717,720

post-58209","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mudhalayiram","category-periyazhwar-thirumozhi","category-periyazhwar-thirumozhi-2nd-centum
["GET
