The term vishNu chiththan is in line with his pAsuram 5-2-10 “aravaththu amaLiyinOdum” (emperumAn, who was reclining on top of AdhiSEshan in thiruppARkadal, the milky ocean, entered the divine mind of periyAzhwAr, along with SrI mahAlakshmi).

vAyththa … – will get distinguished disciples or children, who are apt to carry out mangaLASAsanam (praising emperumAn and wishing him well), and will be as a result of that.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that vAyththa makkaL refers to children and nanmakkaL refers to disciples. Just as disciples have a right over carrying out exclusive servitude to their AchAryans (teachers) as brought out by the term Aya which is the hidden fourth case over the first syllable a in thirumanthram, both children and disciples have a right over being protected by AchAryan, as brought out by the first syllable a in thirumanthram (the term Aya is referred to as prathyayam by our preceptors and the syllable a is referred to as prakruthi). While the saying “puthrAn santhyajya” (denouncing children) would appear to run contrary to this explanation, it should be recalled that there, the relationship between a father and son happens due to kAraNa kArya bhAvam (cause and effect condition, viz. due to a karma [past deed], the child is born as a person’s son]) whereas here, it is not due to that. Hence, there is no discordance between the quoted SlOkam and the benefit mentioned in the pAsuram. That emperumAn is the protector and we are all the protected will be well understood only when the meaning of the hidden fourth case (Aya) is clear, viz. that we exist only for carrying out mangaLASAsanam to emperumAn and that he is the protector.

We shall next consider the pravESam of the first thirumozhi of second centum

adiyEn krishNa rAmAnuja dhAsan

archived in https://divyaprabandham.koyil.org

pramEyam (goal) – http://koyil.org
pramANam (scriptures) – http://granthams.koyil.org
pramAthA (preceptors) – http://acharyas.koyil.org
SrIvaishNava education/kids portal – http://pillai.koyil.org

SrI: SrImathE SatakOpAya nama: SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama: Sri varavaramunayE nama: periyAzhwAr thirumozhi >> First Centum >> Ninth Decad Previous avathArikai (Introduction) In this last pAsuram of this thirumozhi, AzhwAr mentions the benefit to those who recite these pAsurams and brings the decad to its end.
