Clap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the help of monkey troops, you had built a bridge across the resounding ocean such that water was stagnant on either side [allowing the entire army to pass through the ocean]. You should clap with your divine hands with which you had tortured demons who were inhabiting lankA, for which the ocean was functioning as a moat, annihilating them. Oh, one who holds the divine discus in your divine hands! You should clap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kurakku<\/strong> \u2013 monkeys are fearful of water and live on high lands. With such monkeys, you had built a bridge across the ocean which, due to its expansive and deep nature, was resounding in its agitation, in such a manner that water on either side of the bridge was stagnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that while monkeys live on mountain tops and caves, without any connection with ocean, if he [emperumAn] decides, there is nothing which cannot be connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>neeL nIr \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; just as it has been said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-1-6-7-nil-kadal\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3915\">thiruvAimozhi 1-6-7<\/a> \u201c<em>neeL kadal sUzh ilangai<\/em>\u201d (lankA, surrounded by expansive ocean), since demons were having lankA, surrounded by expansive ocean which was functioning as a moat for them, as their dwelling place, they thought \u201cWhen we have this protection, there is no shortcoming for us\u201d. With your arrows, which have the quality of eliminating your enemies, you had annihilated the demons. Clap with the divine hands, which had killed the demons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the demons, due to their arrogance of having ocean as their protection, were inhabiting lankA, showing their fire of independence through their enjoyment. Sri rAma, through his arrows, made that fire as wheatworms [<em>viLakkup piNam<\/em> or <em>vittil pUchchi<\/em>], annihilating them, keeping that fire in their stomachs. Through monkeys, he created islands in ocean. Through torturing arrows, he fought and annihilated demons. When he takes aim, we do not see any distinction between \u201cmonkey\u201d and \u201carrow\u201d. Since AzhwAr says <em>arakkar aviya<\/em> (annihilate demons) with <em>adu kaNai<\/em> (torturing arrows), the arrows act like water for fire; since SrI rAma had earlier said \u201c<em>sAgaram sOshayishyAmi<\/em>\u201d (I will dry up the ocean), the arrows had acted as fire for water. Since he had killed a vAli, a kara, a dhUshaNa, a mArIcha et al, it is called as <em>adukaNai<\/em> (torturing arrow). <em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nEmi am kaiyanE chappANi<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who has the beautiful, divine disc in your divine hands! Clap. Since arrows were there for annihilating enemies, the divine disc was present as a decorative ornament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, thiruvAimozhip piLLai says that the divine disc is termed beautiful since arrow has finished the work of annihilation.
