Clap with those divine hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocean is expansive and deep. On the divine hands of the entity who surrendered to it, the [king of] ocean flung droplets through its waves, by blowing, and hid himself, without showing his face. You should clap with the divine hands with which you had prepared to shoot arrows on that varuNan. Oh, one who holds the divine bow, SrI SArngam! You should clap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>parandhu \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Just as it has been mentioned in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 19-31 \u201c<em>apramEyO mahOdhadhi<\/em>\u201d (this ocean, which cannot be measured), the ocean is such expansive that its boundary cannot be seen and its depth cannot be estimated. The term <em>padu<\/em> refers to depth. Also, it refers to gems such as rubies which are available in abundance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that the ocean was such expansive that its length, breadth and depth could not be estimated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>thannai \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Just as it has been mentioned in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 21-1 \u201c<em>anjalim prAngmukha<\/em>:<em> kruthvA prathiSiSyE mahOdhadhE<\/em>\u201d (emperumAn, looking at the eastern direction, performed <em>anjali<\/em> (cupping hands together in salutation) towards the ocean), SrI rAma had surrendered to the ocean, saying \u201cYou should provide a way to reach lankA\u201d. The ocean flung droplets of water on his divine hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here, for the term <em>ittu ninRa padu kadal thannai<\/em> \u2013 the ocean gave rubies and other gems to those who attained it, without drying up. The term <em>padu<\/em> would refer both to gemstones such as rubies and to depth. For the term <em>irandhu<\/em> \u2026 he says \u2013 considering the ocean\u2019s magnanimity earlier [in giving gemstones etc], and as per vibhIshaNa\u2019s instruction as mentioned in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 19-21 \u201c<em>samudhram rAghavO rAjA SaraNam karthum [ganthum] arhathi<\/em>\u201d (the ocean is apt to be surrendered to by king SrI rAma], SrI rAma surrendered to the ocean. Though one could surrender, the act will fructify only if the entity to whom one has surrendered has the requisite qualities [of accepting and granting refuge]. On the hands which sought alms from it, the ocean flung droplets of water through its waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>karandhu \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; the [lord of] ocean had hidden, without showing the face. Becoming furious, SrI rAma told lakshmaNa, as in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 21-21 \u201c<em>chApamAnaya saumithrE<\/em>!<em> SarAmSchAsi vishOpamAn<\/em>\u201d (Oh, lakshmaNa! Bring bow and arrows which are like the poison of snake) and placed the arrows on the bow such that the ocean, becoming bewildered and in fear, threw up the sand from the bottom of the ocean to top in an agitated way. You should clap with those divine hands, which had touched the bow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the term <em>kadal<\/em> refers to varuNan who is its controller and representative lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>sArngavil kaiyanE<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who had the beauty then, holding the bow and arrow!
