[another divine abode]<br><em>madhiL sUzh<\/em> \u2013 surrounded by fortified walls<br><em>sOlai malaikku <\/em>\u2013 for the hills of thirumAlirum sOlai [another divine abode]<br><em>arasE<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who is the head!<br><em>kaNNapuraththu<\/em> \u2013 one who is residing in thirukkaNNapuram [another divine abode]<br><em>amudhE<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who is enjoyable like nectar!<br><em>en<\/em> \u2013 my<br><em>avalam<\/em> \u2013 distress<br><em>kaLaivAy<\/em>! \u2013 oh, one who removes!<br><em>unnaiyum<\/em> \u2013 you (who steal our hearts)<br><em>okkalaiyil<\/em> \u2013 on the waist<br><em>koNdu<\/em> \u2013 taking<br><em>tham il<\/em> \u2013 to their houses<br><em>maruvi<\/em> \u2013 reaching with you<br><em>unnodu<\/em> \u2013 with you<br><em>thangaL<\/em> \u2013 their<br><em>karuththu Ayina seydhu<\/em> \u2013 playing with you as per their desires<br><em>varum<\/em> \u2013 and bringing you back<br><em>kanniyarum <\/em>\u2013 young girls<br><em>magizha<\/em> \u2013 to feel happy after seeing this<br><em>kaNdavar<\/em> \u2013 those who saw<br><em>kaN<\/em> \u2013 eyes<br><em>kuLira<\/em> \u2013 to feel cool [comfortable]<br><em>kaRRavar<\/em> \u2013 those who could speak a few words<br><em>theRRi vara<\/em> \u2013 to string garlands of nuanced poems<br><em>peRRa<\/em> \u2013 one who sired you<br><em>enakku<\/em> \u2013 in my matter<br><em>aruLi<\/em> \u2013 having mercy, perform <em>sengIrai<\/em><br><em>Ezh ulagum<\/em> \u2013 for all the seven worlds<br><em>udaiyAy<\/em> \u2013 oh, one who is the lord!<br><em>Aduga Aduga<\/em> \u2013 you should dance; you should dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, one who has mercifully taken residence in thirukkuRungudi, which does not get destroyed even during deluge! Oh, one who is dwelling in thiruveLLLaRai! Oh, one who is the head of thirumAlirum sOlai, which is surrounded by fortified walls! Oh, one is enjoyable like nectar, residing in thirukkaNNapuram! Oh, one who removes my distress! You should perform <em>sengIrai<\/em> such that young girls, who take you on their waists, reach their homes and play with you as they please, feel happy; you should perform <em>sengIrai<\/em> such that those who see you dance, would have cool and comfortable eyes; you should perform <em>sengIrai<\/em> such that those who speak a few words, are able to compose nuanced poems; you should perform <em>sengIrai<\/em> such that you shower your grace on me, who had given birth to you. Oh, one who is the lord of all the worlds! You should dance; you should dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>unnaiyum \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Keeping you who steal, through your qualities such as beauty etc, the eyes and minds of those who see you, on their waists, they [the young women in SrI gOkulam] reach their respective home. The opinion given here is: How strange that even after keeping you on their waists, the girls are such conscious that they are able to reach their homes without losing their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam: you, who are capable of stealing the eyes and minds of people by their merely seeing you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>unnodu \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; young girls, who play with you, who are like this [as stated in the previous verse], to their hearts\u2019 content, will bring you back [to my house]. Such youngsters should see [you performing <em>sengIrai<\/em>] and feel joyous. Through this, the meaning hinted is that the girls would feel happy that one, who, when he is alone with them, is behaving like a youth, is behaving like a child when he is with his mother and carrying out activities accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: bringing you back [to yaSOdhAp pirAtti\u2019s mansion] is even rarer than taking you to their houses without losing their way. <em>kanniyarum magizha<\/em> \u2013 apart from mother, even those who desire him to be happy. Happiness for those who leave is due to innocence of not knowing the sorrow of leaving him behind and going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNdavar kaN kuLira<\/strong> \u2013 if someone were to see this [your performing <em>sengIrai<\/em>], their eyes would feel cool, as if tender coconut water had been poured into their eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaRRavar theRRi vara<\/strong> \u2013 those who are capable of stringing a few words into verses would be capable of composing nuanced poems such as <em>piLLaith thamizh<\/em> [a class of thamizh poems focussing on activities of children] if they see your divine activities as a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>peRRa enakku aruLi<\/strong> \u2013 showering your grace on me, who had given birth to you. This is to be read with the final verse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>mannu kuRungudiyAy<\/strong> \u2013 thirukkuRungudi is such a divine abode that even deluge cannot destroy it, just as it has been said in SrI bhAgavatham 5-38-9 \u201c<em>na plAvayathi sAgara<\/em>:\u201d [ocean cannot drown it). Oh, one who has mercifully taken residence in such thirukkuRungudi!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>veLLaRaiyAy<\/strong> \u2013 not only that, oh, one who is permanently dwelling in thiruveLLaRai!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that thiruveLLaRai is the divine abode for which AzhwAr has carried out mangaLASAsanam in a distinguished manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>madhiL sUzh sOlai malaikku arasE<\/strong> \u2013 oh, one who is ruling over as the king in <em>thirumalai<\/em> [divine mountain] which has fortified walls as protection, avoiding rule by two kings! [meaning hinted here is that emperumAn has come down from paramapadham, won over thirumAlirunjOlai through his divine qualities of beauty, simplicity etc and ruled over it, without a second king lurking anywhere].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the divine fortified walls of thirumAlirunjOlai would make AzhwAr to be without any stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNNapuraththu amudhE<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who is like a nectar in thirukkaNNapuram, to be enjoyed by all the people [unlike the nectar which was exclusively consumed by celestial entities]!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that kaNNapuram is such that just as it has been said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2023\/08\/perumal-thirumozhi-8-6\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"51410\">perumAL thirumozhi 8-6<\/a> \u201c<em>kaRRavar thAm vAzhum\u2026<\/em>\u201d (the divine abode of thirukkaNNapuram is inhabited by wise people\u2026), it is apt to carry out mangaLASAsanam there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>en avalam kaLaivAy<\/strong> \u2013 Oh, one who removes my distress! The meaning conveyed here is: by being obedient to me, you have removed my distress which I would have felt if you had been uncontrollable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: AzhwAr is saying \u201c<em>en avalam kaLaivAy<\/em>\u201d because there is no shortcoming in his knowledge that he [AzhwAr] is the protector and krishNa is protected. Distress for him will occur if krishNa were not protected. AzhwAr has told emperumAn that he should reside permanently in these divine abodes and has made him to reside in those places as per his [AzhwAr\u2019s] desire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aduga sengIrai<\/strong> \u2013 You, who are like this, should perform <em>sengIrai<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ezhulagum \u2026<\/strong> &#8211; Oh, one who is the lord of all the worlds! You should mercifully perform dance. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here \u2013 only if emperumAn is controlled by AzhwAr could he [emperumAn] become the controller of all the worlds.
