AzhwAr meditates on that and becomes blissful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>vaNNa mAdangaL sUzh thirukkOttiyUr<\/em><br><em>kaNNan kEsavan nambi piRandhinil<\/em><br><em>eNNey suNNam edhir edhir thUvidak<\/em><br><em>kaNNan muRRam kalandhu aLarAyiRRE<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meaning<\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>vaNNa mAdangaL<\/em> \u2013 beautiful mansions<br><em>sUzh<\/em> \u2013 surrounded by<br><em>thirukkOttiyUr<\/em> \u2013 in the divine abode of thirukkOshtiyUr<br><em>nambi<\/em> \u2013 complete with all auspicious qualities<br><em>kEsavan<\/em> \u2013 one with commendable locks<br><em>kaNNan<\/em>\u2013 krishNa<br><em>in il<\/em> \u2013 in the sweet house (of nandhagOpar)<br><em>piRandhu<\/em> \u2013 mercifully incarnated<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(due to that)<br><em>eNNey<\/em> \u2013 oil<br><em>suNNam<\/em> \u2013 turmeric powder<br><em>edhir edhir thUvida<\/em> \u2013 sprayed on one another<br><em>kaN nal muRRam \u2013 <\/em>courtyard which was expansive and invigorating to look at<br><em>kalandhu<\/em> \u2013 due to that mixture [of oil and turmeric powder]<br><em>aLaru AyiRRu<\/em> \u2013 became muddied<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thirukkOttiyUr is surrounded by mansions which are embellished with gemstones. In that divine abode, krishNa mercifully incarnated in the sweet house of nandhagOpar. People sprayed a mixture of oil and turmeric powder on each other, in the courtyard, which was beautiful and invigorating to look at. As a result, the courtyard became muddied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkhyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vaNNa mAdangaL sUzh thirukkOttiyUr<\/strong> \u2013 just as it has been said in periyAzhwAr thirumozhi 4-4-3 \u201c<em>vaNNa nanmaNiyum maragadhamum azhuththi nizhal ezhum thiNNai sUzh thirukkOttiyUr<\/em>\u201d (thirukkOttiyUr, which is surrounded by pials [raised platforms in the front-yard of houses, called in thamizh as <em>thiNNai<\/em>] which shine brightly since gemstones such as carbuncles and emeralds have been embellished in them firmly), in thirukkOttiyUr which is surrounded by mansions which have been embellished with different types of gemstones<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNNan kEsavan nambi<\/strong> \u2013 krishNa, who had plentiful and beautiful locks and who was complete with all the auspicious qualities. Also, krishNa who had destroyed the monster kESi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>piRandhinil<em> \u2013<\/em><\/strong> this could be considered as <em>piRandhin-il<\/em> which would mean at the time of being born or as <em>in-il-piRandhu<\/em> \u2013 born in a beautiful house. Unlike mathurA where one could not speak highly of the prison where krishNa was born, in thirukkOttiyUr, he was born in the beautiful house of SrI nandhagOpar. Alternatively [to expand the meaning of <em>kESavan<\/em> which would mean being the controller of <em>ka<\/em> (brahma) and <em>ISa<\/em> (rudhra)], this could be construed as \u2013 being the cause for the birth of brahmA, rudhra et al, having auspicious qualities in full, emperumAn incarnated as krishNa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>eNNey suNNam edhir edhir thUvida<\/strong> \u2013 being in total bliss [the people in thiruvAyppAdi], mixed oil and turmeric powder and sprayed on one another as an outlet for that happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kaNNan muRRam<\/strong> \u2013 since nandhagOpar considered that henceforth kaNNan will be the controller of his house, the courtyard would be called as kaNNan\u2019s courtyard.
