{"id":54332,"date":"2024-10-16T23:39:40","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T23:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=54332"},"modified":"2024-10-16T23:39:41","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T23:39:41","slug":"nachchiyar-thirumozhi-11-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2024\/10\/nachchiyar-thirumozhi-11-10\/","title":{"rendered":"nAchchiyAr thirumozhi &#8211; 11.10 \u2013 semmai udaiya"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">SrI: SrImathE SatakOpAya nama: SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama: SrImadh varavara munayE nama:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2024\/06\/nachchiyar-thirumozhi\/\">Full series<\/a> &gt;&gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2024\/10\/nachiyar-thirumozhi-11\/\">Eleventh decad<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2024\/10\/nachchiyar-thirumozhi-11-9\/\">&lt;&lt; Previous<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>avathArikai (Introduction)<\/strong> \u2013 in the last pAsuram of this decad, recalling the firm belief which her father periyAzhwAr had shown after hearing the meanings of charama SlOkam, she asks \u201cBeing born to that periyAzhwAr as his daughter, and desiring emperumAn, if emperumAn goes against the grain of the saying \u2018one should desire one who desires him\/her\u2019 and he decides to give up on me, who could compel him?\u201d bringing the decad to its end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>semmai udaiya thiruvarangar thAm paNiththa<\/em><br><em>meymmaip peruvArththai vittuchiththar kEttiruppar<\/em><br><em>thammai ugappAraith thAm ugappar ennum sol<\/em><br><em>thammidaiyE poyyAnAl sAdhippAr Ar iniyE<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>semmai udaiya<\/em> \u2013 having honesty (of synchronising the faculties of mind, speech and action)<br><em>thiru arangar<\/em> \u2013 SrIranganAthar<br><em>thAm paNiththa<\/em> \u2013 mercifully spoken through his mouth (earlier)<br><em>meymmai<\/em> \u2013 being truthful<br><em>peru<\/em> \u2013 having eminence<br><em>vArththai<\/em> \u2013 the words of charama SlOkam<br><em>vittuchiththar<\/em> \u2013 (my divine father) periyAzhwAr<br><em>kEttu <\/em>\u2013 hearing from his guru (AchAryar, teacher)<br><em>iruppar<\/em> \u2013 (as mentioned in that SlOkam) would have been without any worry [on his mind]<br><em>thammai upgappArai thAm ugappar ennum sol<\/em> \u2013 the proverb \u201cOne would desire a person who desires him [the first] person\u201d<br>thammidaiyE \u2013 with him<br><em>poy AnAl<\/em> \u2013 if it becomes false<br><em>ini<\/em> \u2013 beyond that<br><em>sAdhippAr Ar<\/em> \u2013 who could control (him) (there is none)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SrIranganAthar has the quality of honesty by which he synchronises the faculties of mind, speech and action. periyAzhwAr, through his teacher, would have heard the truthful and most eminent charama SlOkam, mercifully revealed by emperumAn himself, through his mouth, and would have conducted himself as per that [charama SlOkam], being free from any worry. If the proverb \u201cOne would desire a person who desires himself\u201d becomes false, who could compel that emperumAn?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>semmai udaiya thiruvarangar<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn has the quality of honesty of having his mind, speech and action synchronised such that he could reform and take under his refuge <em>chEthanas<\/em> (entities with knowledge) who go by the saying \u201c<em>manasyanyath vachasanyath karmaNyanyath dhurAthmanAm<\/em>\u201d (for the wicked people, mind, speech and action would be different). s<em>emmai<\/em> \u2013 honesty. He has a mind which desires good bodings for everyone, as mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/5-29\">bhagavath gIthA 5-29<\/a> \u201c<em>bhOkthAram yagya thapasAm sarvalOka mahESvaram<\/em> l <em>suhrudham sarvabhUthAnAm gyAthvA mAm SAnthim ruchchathi<\/em>\u201d (I consume rituals and penance. I am the controller of all the worlds. I am the friend for all the creations. One who knows me this way, attains peace). In SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 18-3 rAma tells the assembly of his advisors \u201c<em>mithra bhAvEna samprAptham na thyajEyam kathanchana<\/em> l<em> dhOshO yadhyapi thasya syAth sathAmEthath agarhitham<\/em> ll\u201d (I will not let down this vibhIshaNa who has come as a friend. Even if he has any faults, let them be; for good people, accepting him is not to be reproached). Thus, one who says that he will not give up on those who had committed offences, putting those words into practice, mercifully reclined in the big temple in SrIrangam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>semmaiyudaiya thiruvarangar thAm paNiththa<\/strong> \u2013 mercifully said by one who had synchronised his faculties of mind, speech and act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>meymmaip peruvArththai<\/strong> \u2013 it was a word which was truthful, distinguished and easy to be followed for all. That is the krishNa charama SlOkam mercifully given on the divine chariot \u2013 \u2018I am here to carry out your work. Do not worry about anything. Keep all your burden on me and remain without any worry\u2019. If asked \u201cThis SlOkam was given exclusively for arjuna. What is the benefit for him [periyAzhwAr]?\u201d the response is \u2013 since emperumAn is common for everyone, this is the charama SlOkam given earlier itself for everyone who thinks that (s)he is unable to carry out his task. Hence there is no issue in periyAzhwAr hearing it and living as per the SlOkam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kEttiruppar<\/strong> \u2013 he would have heard that from his AchAryan and remained aligning with that. After hearing that word, he would not have moved even a small bit of scrap as <em>upAyam<\/em> [an enabling act for the means]. He would carry out everything as the <em>prApyam<\/em> [the act itself is the benefit].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>thammai ugappAraith thAm ugappar ennum sol <\/strong>\u2013 there is a saying in the world: when asked \u201cFor whom are you a good person\u201d, the response would be \u201cI am good person for a good person\u201d. This could be transformed with a negative connotation by asking \u201cIs there a wicked person for a good person?\u201d These colloquial usages are the meaning for the term <em>sol<\/em> here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>thammidaiyE poyyAnAl sAdhippAr Ar iniyE?<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn sets up the boundary for the world. If he himself starts discriminating, is there anyone who could order him \u201cYou should not do like that\u201d? Even if there were someone who could order him, what could be done?
