In this pAsuram, he says that he will not keep his affection on anything other than emperumAn\u2019s divine feet which destroyed his strong karmas (past deeds), which were hurdles in attaining that devotion, just like they destroyed monsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>kAy sinaththa kAsi mannan vakkaran pavuNdiran<\/em><br><em>mAsinaththa mAli mAsumAli kEsi dhEnukan<\/em><br><em>nAsamuRRu vIzha nAL kavarndha nin kazhaRkalAl<\/em><br><em>nEsa pAsam eththiRaththum vaiththidEn emmIsanE<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>em IsanE <\/em>\u2013 Oh one who is my swAmy (lord)!<br><em>kAy<\/em> \u2013 to kill (noble people)<br><em>sinaththa<\/em> \u2013 having anger<br><em>kAsi mannan<\/em> \u2013 the king of kAsi<br><em>vakkaran <\/em>\u2013 dhanthavakran<br><em>pavuNdiran<\/em> \u2013 pauNdrakan<br><em>mA sinaththa<\/em> \u2013 having great anger<br><em>mAli<\/em> \u2013 mAli<br><em>mA sumAli<\/em> \u2013 sumAli, who had a huge form<br><em>kEsi<\/em> \u2013 kEsi<br><em>dhEnukan<\/em> \u2013 dhEnukan<br>(all these monsters)<br><em>nAsam<\/em> \u2013 grief<br><em>uRRu<\/em> \u2013 attained<br><em>vIzha<\/em> \u2013 to fall down, dying<br><em>nAL<\/em> \u2013 their longevity<br><em>kavarndha <\/em>\u2013 one who had taken<br><em>nin<\/em> \u2013 your<br><em>kazhaRkalAl<\/em> \u2013 other than the divine feet<br><em>eththiRaththum<\/em> \u2013 in any matter<br><em>pAsam <\/em>\u2013 rope<br><em>vaiththidEn <\/em>\u2013 I will not keep<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, one who is my swAmy! Your divine feet had destroyed the longevity of monsters such as the king of kAsi, wo had anger to kill noble people, dhanthavakran, pauNdrakan, mAli, who had great anger, sumAli, who had a huge form, kEsi and dhEnukan, such that they fell down dying, in grief. I will not keep my affection on any matter other than your divine feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam (Commentary)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kAy sinaththa kAsi mannan<\/strong> \u2013 the king of kAsi who had a destructive anger. The opinion is that since he had an abundance of thamOguNam (ignorance, laziness etc), his anger could not be controlled until he destroyed noble people (people who had an abundance of sAthvika guNam).&nbsp; <em>kAydhal<\/em> \u2013 killing (root word for <em>kAy<\/em>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>vakkaran<\/strong> \u2013 dhanthavakran, another monster, who had similar nature. The words<em> kAy sinaththa<\/em> are to be added here too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>pavuNdiran<\/strong> \u2013 As if to compete with kaNNan (krishNa), pauNdraka vAsudhEvan donned the disc and conch and proclaimed, egoistically, that he is the real vAsudhEvan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>mA sinaththa mAli<\/strong> \u2013 monster mAli, who had huge anger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>mA sumAli<\/strong> \u2013 another monster, sumAli, who had a huge physical form. The word <em>mAsinaththa<\/em> could be added here too. The implied meaning is that this sumAli had a huge anger as well as a huge and beautiful form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>kEsi<\/strong> \u2013 yet another monster, who came in the form of a monstrous horse towards gOkulam (to kill kaNNan) causing fear amongst celestial entities when he came in the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>dhEnukan<\/strong>&#8211; the monster dhEnukan, who created fear among the cowherd people and cows, who were following kaNNan. The reason for AzhwAr to speak about the cruelties of these monsters was to indicate the cruelties caused by his karmas (past deeds) which were hurdles for him [in attaining emperumAn].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nAsamuRRu vIzha nAL kavarndha<\/strong> \u2013 took their lives such that they fell down, dead, experiencing grief. The term <em>nAsam <\/em>here refers to grief. <em>vIzha<\/em> refers to falling down, dead. Alternatively, <em>vIzhdhal<\/em> could be taken to refer to letting go, and the term here would refer to letting go of their lives. Until now, the pAsuram spoke about emperumAn considering the enemies of his followers as his enemies and his destroying them without any mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>nin kazhaRkalAl nEsa pAsam eththiRaththum vaiththidEn<\/strong> \u2013 Apart from your divine feet which have the nature of destroying the enemies, I will not keep the rope of devotion, with any other matter. He calls devotion s rope since devotion binds him with emperumAn. Didn\u2019t this AzhwAr mercifully say in pAsuram 83 <em>ettinOdu iraNdenum kayiRRAl<\/em>, terming devotion as rope!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>em IsanE<\/strong> \u2013 my swAmy!
