He sent jatAyu, who had fought valiantly with rAvaNa, for the sake of pirAtti, to SrI vaikuNtam. He befriended sugrIva, who was hiding in the forest, fearful of his elder brother, vAli. SrI rAma killed vAli, burnt the town of lankA, with the help of hanuman such that the anger of rAvaNa, the king of lankA as well as the leader of demons, abated. He came to thiruchchithrakUtam, in thillainagar, mercifully.
