This is because, just as it is mentioned in periya thirumozhi 7-1-9 \u201c<em>thAyAyaLikkinRa thaNdAmaraikkaNNA<\/em>\u201d (Oh one who has divine eyes similar to cool, reddish lotus flower and who showers mercy like a mother!), sarvESvaran\u2019s eyes which are soft are described in this pAsuram as being fiery. We could experience what AzhwAr is saying only if we too are suffering in distress, just like AzhwAr.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>erikoL sennAyiRu iraNdudanE udhayam malaivAy<\/em><i><br \/>\n<em>viriginRa vaNNaththu emperumAn kaNgaL mINdavaRRuL<\/em><br \/>\n<em>erikoL sendhIvIzhasuraraippOla empOliyarkkum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>virivasolleer idhuvO vaiyamuRRum viLariyadhE<\/em><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>Word-by-Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>emperumAn<\/em> \u2013 sarvESvaran, who is my lord<br \/>\n<em>kaNgaL<\/em> \u2013 divine eyes<br \/>\n<em>erikoL<\/em> \u2013 having fire<br \/>\n<em>udhayam malaivAy<\/em> \u2013 in the mountains where it rises from<br \/>\n<em>udanE<\/em> \u2013 simultaneously<br \/>\n<em>viriginRa<\/em> \u2013 spreading<br \/>\n<em>sem<\/em> \u2013 having reddish rays<br \/>\n<em>iraNdu nAyiRu<\/em> \u2013 twin sUriyans\u2019<br \/>\n<em>vaNNanththa<\/em> \u2013 having the true nature<br \/>\n<em>erikoL<\/em> \u2013 having flame<br \/>\n<em>sem<\/em> \u2013 reddish<br \/>\n<em>thI<\/em> \u2013 like fire<br \/>\n<em>avaRRuL<\/em> \u2013 in the splendour of the sUriyan<br \/>\n<em>mINdu<\/em> \u2013 again<br \/>\n<em>vIzh<\/em> \u2013 falling<br \/>\n<em>asuraraippOla<\/em> \u2013 like demons (known as <em>mandhEhar<\/em>)<br \/>\n<em>empOliyarkkum<\/em> \u2013 like us who are affectionate (in matters related to bhagavAn)<br \/>\n<em>viriva<\/em> \u2013 appeared before us<br \/>\n<em>vaiyam muRRum<\/em> \u2013 throughout the world<br \/>\n<em>viLariyadhu<\/em> \u2013 calling out<br \/>\n<em>idhuvO<\/em> \u2013 was it for this?<br \/>\n<em>solleer<\/em> \u2013 please tell<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simple Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The divine eyes of sarvESvaran appear like two sUriyans, spitting fire, which have risen at the same time over the mountains. Just like demons die in the splendour of sUriyan\u2019s flames, sarvESvaran\u2019s divine eyes are harmful for us who are devoted to him.\u00a0 Please tell us whether it is for this that the world is calling out to that sarvESvaran.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>eri . . . <\/strong>\u2013 The divine eyes of sarvESvaran are similar to two reddish sUriyans which are spitting fire and spreading it when they rise over the mountains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mINdu . . .<\/strong> \u2013 when the sUriyan rises, demons, known as <em>mandhEhars<\/em>, will hold on to his chariot, preventing him from going further. The divine water offered by brAhmaNAs when they offer <em>argyam<\/em> will provide a splendour to sUriyan. The demons will fall into and get destroyed in that fire. Similar to those demons who fall into that roaming sUriyan\u2019s fire and get destroyed . . .<\/p>\n<p><strong>empOliyarkkum viriva<\/strong> \u2013 for those like me who desire him and become sorrowful, they cause harm just like they do for the demons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>solleer idhuvO vaiyam muRRum viLariyadhE<\/strong> \u2013 is this the result for the world calling out to him? Please tell. Is it to fall into that fire that the world is calling out to him? Isn\u2019t she the one who had thought in thiruvAimozhi 2.1 decad <em>vAyum thiraiyugaLum<\/em> when she felt that the entire world was suffering from the same sorrows that she was suffering from?<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively<\/p>\n<p><strong>mINdavaRRuL erikoL sendhIvIzhasuraraippOl empOliyarkkum<\/strong> \u2013 just like those demons who fall into that flame of sUriyan\u2019s splendour and perish, these eyes are harmful for people like me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>viriva solleer<\/strong> \u2013 tell me a refuge.
