previous (iyalum poruLum)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>pAsuram 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After thus seeing his ineligibility to do this prabandham, as he tried to back out thinking that this is not possible\/right for him to continue, he thought about his belonging to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>, and is saying that after that there is nothing impossible for him, and so becomes involved in continuing the prabandham.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piLLai lOkam jiyar<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After thus seeing his ineligibility in knowledge, devotion, or to experience it, he tried to back out in the beginning doing the prabandham, in this pAsuram \u2013 after considering the princely position (rAja kula mAhAthmyam) of having the connection of the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>, he concludes that that it is not difficult, but easy only to do the prabandham, and so proceeds further.<\/p>\n<p><em>mozhiyaik kadakkum perum pugazhAn vanja mukkurumbAm<\/em><br \/>\n<em>kuzhiyaik kadakkum nam kUraththAzhvAn charaN kUdiya pin<\/em><br \/>\n<em>pazhiyaik kadaththum irAmAnusan pugazh pAdi allA<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vazhiyaik kadaththal enakku ini yAdhum varuththamanRE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; vidhyA- about being a vidhwAn\/high education; vruththam \u2013 about having good anushtAnam (properly following the words of sAsthram and sampradhAyam);<br \/>\n<em>vanjam<\/em> \u2013 which would, each on its own ability, cheat us out of the good place and push us into a corner.<br \/>\n<em>kUdiya pin<\/em> \u2013 after surrendering to<br \/>\n<em>charaN<\/em> \u2013 the divine feet (of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>),<br \/>\n<em>ini<\/em> \u2013 from now on<br \/>\n<em>yAdhum varuthtamanRu<\/em> \u2013 it is not hard at all<br \/>\n<em>enakku<\/em> \u2013 for me<br \/>\n<em>kadaththal<\/em> \u2013 to understand our true nature and avoid<br \/>\n<em>allA vazhiyai<\/em> \u2013 the ways that are not befitting our true nature (feeling independent, dependent on samsAris, keep coming back to be born in this world, etc.),<br \/>\n<em>pAdi<\/em> \u2013 (and not hard at all for me) to sing as encouraged by love<br \/>\n<em>pugazh<\/em> \u2013 about the auspicious qualities<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusan<\/em> \u2013 of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a><br \/>\n<em>pazhiyaik kadaththum<\/em> \u2013 who can remove the badness of karmas whose fruits would (otherwise) have to be experienced without fail.<br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\npAtam (different recitation) &#8211; Some recite it as \u2018kuzhiyaik kada<strong>thth<\/strong>um\u2019 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvan<\/a> would help those who are surrendered to him to get out of the conceits.<br \/>\npAtam (different recitation) &#8211; Some recite it as \u2018<strong>em<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>\u2019 \u2013 (same meaning as <strong>num<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>)<br \/>\n&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>mozhiyaik kadakkum perum pugazhAn<\/em> \u2013 It is hard to use words to describe it, and it grows everyday up to the paramapadham, such are his (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>\u2019s) auspicious qualities;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mAmunigaL <\/a>said \u2018<em>vAchamagOchara mahAguNa dhEsikAgrya, kUrAdhinAtha<\/em>\u2019 [yathirAja vimsathi-14].<br \/>\n{Here it is suggested to recall the greatness of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a> through reading of his wonderful unparalleled vaibhavam}<\/p>\n<p><em>vanja mukkuRumbAm<\/em> \u2013 The three dangerous conceits\/ahankAras: abhijana &#8211; about being born in a noble ancestry; vidhyA &#8211; about being a vidhwAn\/of high education; vruththam \u2013 about having good anushtAnam. These conceits can fool us, making us think we are equal to other devotees, making us feel within us that we are great, and so leading to destroying our svarUpam (true nature of being subservient to Him and his devotees).<\/p>\n<p><em>mukkuRumbu<\/em> &#8211; \u201c<em>vruthyA pasu: naravapu: thvahamIdhrusOpi sruthyAdhi sidhdha nikhilAthma guNAsrayOyam | ithyAdharENa kruthinOpi mitha: pravakthum adhyApi vanchanaparOthra yathIndhra varthE<\/em> ||\u201d [yathirAja vimsathi \u2013 7] (When considering anushtAnam\/existence I am like a cow (animal which does not have anushtAnams); am just in the form of a human being, am such a lowly one; but noble people are saying softly that I am a holder of all auspicious qualities and know vEdhas etc., &#8211; I am being so deceitful even now; Oh yathIndhra!)<br \/>\n-&gt; Such is the situation of us to be immersed in the samsAram due to these three conceits.<\/p>\n<p><em>kuzhiyaik kada<strong>thth<\/strong>um<\/em> \u2013 With his advises to those he has endeared, he creates in them real knowledge about the truth, ways, and goals (thathva hitha purushArththam), and thus makes them cross the pot holes that are the above conceits, and thus cross this samsAram.<\/p>\n<p><em>kuzhiyaik kada<strong>kk<\/strong>um<\/em> (when reciting the pAsuram this way, the meaning is as follows). He who has crossed these three pot holes.<\/p>\n<p>(Similar to brahmam which is auspicious by itself, and which makes the ones that reach Him to become auspicious).<\/p>\n<p><em>num kUraththAzhvAn<\/em> \u2013 our <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>. The reason behind the incarnation of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvan<\/a> is to get him (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a>) out of the samsAram. That is why he is saying our <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>kUram<\/em> \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\"> AzhvAn<\/a> having the name based on the person (his father, kUraththAzhvAr) who ruled the dhivya dhEsam (auspicious place) that is <a href=\"http:\/\/kuram.koyil.org\/\">kUram<\/a>. (here the vyAkyAnam refers to him through his father to show the greatness of his ancestry).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>em<\/strong> kUraththAzhvAn<\/em> is another way this is recited, giving the same meaning.<\/p>\n<p><em>charaN kUdiya pin<\/em> \u2013 after getting the lotus feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a> who is having such greatness. After I have got such a princely status.<\/p>\n<p><em>pazhiyaik kadaththum<\/em> \u2013 pazhi: bad karmas. The bad karmas that got into me as I was going in to one corner (and it made me go in to one corner), and which is the cause for the learned people to censure me, and which is enemy of my singing the names (of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujan<\/a>), &#8211; he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujan<\/a>) would remove without trace such bad karmas,<\/p>\n<p><em>irAmAnusan<\/em> \u2013 such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujan<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>pugazh pAdi<\/em> \u2013 to sing his (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujar<\/a>&#8216;s) names and about his auspicious qualities through this prabandham,<\/p>\n<p><em>allA vazhiyaik kadaththal<\/em> \u2013 After reaching and enjoying <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine feet, avoiding the wrong ways; avoiding garbha gathi (path leading to rebirth), yAmya gathi (path leading to yamalOka), dhUmAdhi mArgam (smoke filled dark path leading the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> back to the samsAram), and other such worlds (and go only through archirAdhi mArgam to srIvaikuNtam),<\/p>\n<p><em>enakku ini yAdhum varuththamanRE<\/em> &#8211; <em>enakku ini<\/em> \u2013 (for me, from now onward) \u2013 like this I have involved successfully in the service towards <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>; while there might have been some troubles earlier, but from today and into the future..<\/p>\n<p><em>yAdhum<\/em> &#8211; in any matter..<\/p>\n<p><em>varuththamanRE<\/em> \u2013 there is nothing that is impossible.<\/p>\n<p><em>allA vazhiyai<\/em> \u2013 those other mArgam \u2013 thinking of the ugliness of those other ways, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> says using his divine mouth a general word as \u2018avoiding the ways that are to be avoided\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><em>allA vazhiyaik kadaththal enakku ini yAdhum varuththamanRE<\/em>&#8211;<br \/>\n&#8211; As said in \u201c<em>thadhA vidhvAn puNya-papE vidhUya niranjanah paramam sAmyam upaithi<\/em>\u201d ((~after seeing\/understanding <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s glory) one loses all the karmas and easily becomes equal to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a> in many aspects (reaches srIvaikuNtam),<br \/>\nHere, after holding on to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, it is very easy for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> to avoid the wrong ways and lose all sorts of karmas, and then go in the correct way to srIvaikuNtam.
