So, what is the purpose of thIdhu and avam? It is based on &#8220;satakOpan mAdhavanpAl thIdhu avam inRi uraiththa&#8221; (satakOpan recited these pAsurams explaining that <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> does not have thIdhu and avam). thIdhu &#8211; considering his own greatness of &#8220;I am the husband of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">srI mahAlakshmi<\/a>&#8221; and staying away from his devotees; avam &#8211; Looking at the lowly nature &#8211; &#8220;The one who is surrendering unto me is nithya samsAri (who has been perpetually bound in this material realm)&#8221; and failing the devotee. These two defects are not present in <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>piRavAr<\/em> &#8211; This samsAram is such that we have to say &#8220;approaching <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is easy&#8221; like &#8220;being protected by mother is nice&#8221; [i.e., even the most obvious principle is difficult to understand due to the high level of ignorance].
